SIs and theft...

I know that the 06^SI's attract lots of attention from police, but would you say that they're high on the theft list? I'm assuming that they are. Just curious since I'll be picking up my SI later this week... problem being that it'll be parked outside, and not inside a garage or anything. Or am I being too paranoid.

where do you live?

there honestly hasn't been a huge amount of reports of theft of these cars.

not personally all that familiar with the area.. I'll let others from the GTA chime in here.

Your SI can only be stolen if they tow it or if they made a copy of your key.

both of which are super rare.

you have a higher chance of ur car sitting on bricks without rims or your spoiler missing.. than your car getting stolen

I have yet to hear or read on here about one getting stolen. The thieves in the GTA are still into Integras and old model Civics. A new one is harder to steal and has less parts in common with any other car. I wouldn't worry about it.

yeah chances of the 8thgen/6thgen si getting stolen are greatly reduced by the immobilizer (and better door locks?) i dont really know about that last one for sure.. but the immobilizer will stop them from getting very far with your car if they turn it out w/o the key

Not exactly. They need to also have the key programmed for the immobilzer, which requires the vin number. Which is why just incase... I keep my vin covered with a gorgeous little 8th civic business card. However, when a copy of a key is requested, the dealer is supposed to ask for ID as well as the registration of the vehicle.

first of all, our motors are useless to any kids hoping to pop our k20z3 into their hatches. it's DBW so unless you have a honda fit it won't do you any good. however, once kpro comes out for our car that'll be a different story and i'm sure kids will be more prone to try to lift our car.

i have a tw 08 sedan living in cali. The theft problem was in the back of my head when i decided to get the car too. The dealer threw in a low jack on mine. Anyone else have one?

I always leave my 8th gen outside, and even though I am paranoid at times, I tell myself that it's just a Honda. I mean my driveway has a better car than mine and many other driveways have much more expensive and appealing cars than civics. I would be more worried if the car had modifications to it; whether it would be physical (such as tints) or modifications to the engine.

You'll be fine... And plus, I live in the Woodbridge area too. Like some people already said, just don't park your car at AMC or Colossus, even Vaughan Mills mall at times. My friend left Colossus and walked back to his car only to find a missing tire! I had a Dodge Caravan stolen while I was working at Vaughan Mills... If people want your car they will take it.
