If You Could Have Purchased Any Other Car What Would It Have Been (same Price Range)

When the new Civic SI came out .. at first I was unsure about the look of the car. After months of looking the car at the dealership I saw a white Si and I fell in love with the car .. and from that point I said I have to have that car.

Now that I have had my TW Si for over 1 year I still ove the car .. but I think would I have made the same decision now ? And sometimes I think no .. I think I would have gone for maybe a TSX = cheaper insurance, more classy. Maybe saved a bit more and got a Lexus is350 $5000.00 more then what i paid for my car.

Just curious how many people would still have bought there Civic.. or would they buy something different ???

Again I love my car .. but sometimes I think for the price I paid and the insurance I pay I could have got something a bit more classy with leather .. same type of performance and cheaper insurance.

This is why a lease is good, and financing is bad. (if you want to change cars like underwear)

I love my car too, dont' regret it, wouldn't change it for the world.

You have to look at maintainance costs too down the road, resale value, and other factors.

I financed, 'cause I know I'll keep it till it falls apart.

I was leaning towards an 04-05 STI or 03-04 Z..then I was thinking about gas mileage and driving in winter so SI wins!

I'm in the market, and I'm considering:

2007 CSX-S (they're about the same price, and have 4 vs. 3 years of bumper-bumper warranty, problem is, it's like dressing up a whore, at the end of the day, you know she's still just a whore )
2008 Mazdaspeed3 (with 0% financing and a good deal, the cost isn't all that much more, but maitainance and gas will be a killer, though this is my runner up)
2009 Pontiac Vibe GT (a lot more car for the money, but a lot less performance)
VW GTI (too much extra money for not a lot of extra anything)
Lexus IS 250 (a little more for a lot more luxury, but I'd rather be the king of crap, than the popper of riches)

The Si wins out based on value, durability and fuel economy. It's got everything of real worth that the others do, and for less money.

Performance wise...there aren't that many cars that have a 2.0L 4 banger with almost 200HP N/A...thats another big factor in getting this car..all other cars in its class need to be either boosted or SC'd

GTI or the Jetta 2.0T. While not as nimble as our Si, but the low end torque is really nice to have.

I agree .. that performance wise there isnt much else in competition n/a wise and fuel efficient.

The car I owned prior to this was a 2003 Nissan sentra Spec-v .. 175hp 165tq
I wanted this car sooo bad finally bought it .. and after buying it .. nothing but problems. recall after recall... the cam sensors went the cat went .. the ecu went. at the time when I bought it .. it was only 25,000 km not miles.. but it was quick at the time. The SI is alot faster better handling .. better interior. I could go on and on. But I got rid of that Nissan Lemon and got my SI I did alot of research. Cobalt, WRX, SRT4, Mazda s3. I wanted a fuel efficient rocket. After having a lemon of a Nissan I said I would never buy another .. so Infiniti was no option .. they have websites dedicated to that car and the 350z nothing but problems. I needed a car that was going to be reliable .. cheap on gas.. quick.. and in 5 yrs would still look like a new car. Cobalt .. already looks old even new.. looks like a Cavalier. Plus dont trust a GM supercharged 4 banger.. maybe a GM V8 but not a 4 banger. SRT4 same thing.. NEON !!! My gawd its quick but wow .. its like they put a fast engine in anything and said there ya go !! The Mazda s3 again .. the diff between that and the regular 3 is small little things they look the same. I also didnt want a hatch .. so GTI is out of the question. The only thing that I almost bought was a WRX .. the problem with that was. insurance was more .. isnt cheap on gas .. and way more expensive. So I picked the Civic .. the look is so different .. it looks like a sports car .. the power to weight ratio is amazing .. not great but not too bad for a car that looks bigger. 6 spd tranny ... LSD, 2.0 4 banger with almost 200 hp wow. But I hate the car in traffic .. and most of my driving is in traffic. I wish it had a little bit more power.. like 230 .. wish I had leather interior.

Again I love my car .. but I think at the time .. I thought not too many people will own them .. and now I see them everywhere. I think sometimes I should have just gone all out.. bought a STI for the extra money and insurance. I get tired of people comparing my car to a GTI..Cobalt..SRT4 .. when I feel this car is sooo much more then those cars.

I ususally dont feel this way about my car.. im usually showing it off like its a Ferrari or something .. but today this is how I feel. Maybe if I take it for a drive down a country road ..ill come back and say NO WAY I would never give it up. But .. maybe I would have bought a Lexus is250 ......maybe

I looked at a number of cars before buying my Used 06 Si

-G35 Coupe
-IS300
-TSX
-E36 M3

At the end of the day the Si was the most fun, most econmical to drive ... basically the best value overall.

However I am still jonesing for a M3

I'd say the WV GTI, cobolt SS or CSX-S or even a used 350Z is what i'd take after the SI

Used TSX. Used GTO.

If I'd known that the Cobalt SS existed, I probably would have made that my #3.

i would say the MS3 or the Honda Element SC. i loved driving the MS3 the first time i test drove one. and i know that the SC is still an Element, but it grew on me.
