check fuel cap message

Has anyone had this message show up on their dash(check fuel cap),I checked with the dealer he told me that I couldn't have tighted the cap enough and to press the reset on the dash for it to go out but it will still come when I start the car and to continue to press reset for a week before car computer can reset itself.

I told him it's been aweek since I last filled up was it normal to take so long for the message to come on he said yes and to take the car in after aweek if it continued to show.

I own a 2008 civic ex-l
