Brand new civic, new clutch

Sup guys, just pick up a new 08 LX-sunroof last nite. After getting used to driving a Ep3, I feel the clutch for this civic is way tooooo light. Does anyone else feel this way?

I really have a hard time getting used to this new clutch on da civic. Is it the same as coupe and SI models?

Yea..everyone asked that question. 2.0 to 1.8. DOHC to SOHC. Its a matter of $$. Need to save $ on gas.

From a 160 to 140.. the power difference I can tolerate. But its just the clutch I have a hard time adjusting.

never driven an EP3 or a manual R18, but the clutch in my Si is way way way lighter than my previous 325i. oh, but its still stiffer than an accord V6.

The '08 LX is my first standard car and I understand your frustration. What I do is I switch into 1st gear and rev slightly over idle while slowly letting go of the clutch. I find it much more difficult with the LX to find the sweet spot and then gassing it. I thought it was just me, but I have driven a Mazda 3, Mazdaspeed 6, and a Golf without this being a major problem, but I find it difficult to start from a dead stop without pushing on the gas first. I was hoping someone could agree with me and say that it's not the driver but the car, hehe.

While the R18 clutch is light, it still has a good feel to it. At least it's not vague like a few other cars I've driven.

I guess its all a learning process. I wish there is a screw to adjust the stiffness of a clutch

I am doing the exact same way u are doing now to avoid any stalls. I never need to to this method with a Ep3.

My friends say that I still don't know how to drive standard because I do rev slightly and then disengage clutch, but every car is different. I feel that after 4 months of driving this car, it is the best way to start from a dead stop. Also, it has less stress on the car since you are not hearing the transmission struggling from letting go of the clutch first and then gassing it from there. It's hard to switch between standard cars because they all feel different, but once your used to it you'll find it normal. Hope your enjoying the car as much as I am!

+1
I've had my 2008 LX coupe for a couple of months now and I still find myself searching for the spot where the clutch grabs. I've stalled it a few times.
It's almost like the car doesn't have enough power to start without giving it gas.
So, Now I rev to about 1.5K then let the clutch out. seems to be ok.

a light clutch has it's advantages.... like sitting in traffic moving at a snails pace.

Yup! Everything your going through is what others like us are going through, it just takes some adjustment. Sometimes I like the clutch and drive perfectly smooth, other times I get pissed off and make for a shaky and jerky ride.

How about another topic that's been on my mind...

When you switch gears, do you give it gas when your foot is half way off of the clutch in order to smoothen out the transition? For Example, switching 2nd to 3rd; your in 2nd, you press the clutch and put the gear into 3rd. While doing this you get to the clutch point while giving it gas to smoothen out the transition. Is this right...? I was told that this wastes more gas BUT makes for a smoother ride, correct?

So many questions on my end....
