Honda Benefit! Get $1k back!

get $1000 if you bought a civic (doesn't include si) or fit after march 20

http://www.honda.ca/HondaCA2006/Benefits.htm?L=E

"As a responsible member of society whose task lies in the preservation of the global environment, Honda will make every effort to contribute to human health and the preservation of the global environment in each phase of its corporate activity. Only in this way will we be able to count on a successful future not only for our company, but for the entire world."

Honda Environment Statement

Honda has always considered it our responsibility and commitment for the future to ensure "blue skies for our children." We take this commitment very seriously.

Over the past three decades, environmental issues in the Canadian auto industry have evolved and the technologies required to meet them have advanced. But the fundamental challenge remains the same. We need to provide mobility for people while we protect the environment in which we live. For Honda, this means looking at the total impact of product development, production and use, and end-of-life treatment, with a special emphasis on more fuel efficient engine and emission technology. We continue to challenge ourselves to achieve this goal. Consider Honda's track-record:

* First to introduce Low-Emission Vehicle (LEV) technology to Canada
* First to introduce Hybrid technology to Canada
* Leader in fuel cell technology
* One of North America's most fuel-efficient car companies

But don't take our word for it. The Union of Concerned Scientists recently nominated Honda the "Greenest Automaker" for the fourth consecutive time. In April 2007, Fortune magazine singled out Honda as the only automotive company to go beyond what the law requires to operate in an environmentally responsible way. This is not just about our products but all facets of our business.

In mid-March the Canadian Government recognized the Honda Civic Hybrid among the vehicles eligible for its ecoAuto rebate. However, we do not believe the government went far enough in offering benefits to people who want to drive a fuel efficient and environmentally friendly vehicle.

At Honda, we offer pride of ownership because we do not compromise safety for the environment. Each customer can have confidence in Honda's products because they've chosen the best balance in the marketplace. We call this the "Honda Benefit."

To allow Canadians to experience the full advantage of the "Honda Benefit", Honda and our dealers have decided to act and mirror the government's current ecoAuto rebate program. For customers who purchase or lease a new 2007 Honda Fit with automatic or manual transmission or, a new 2006/2007 Honda Civic with manual transmission, an immediate $1,000 "Honda Benefit" incentive* will apply.

Additionally, for any customer who purchased or leased the above-mentioned eligible vehicles from March 20, 2007, we encourage you to return to your dealership to receive more information about the "Honda Benefit." It's our way of saying we value your trust in the Honda brand.

For more information, visit your local Honda dealer or www.honda.ca. With the "Honda Benefit" you will enjoy the best balance of "Green, Safe and Fun" all in one package. After all, that's what makes a Honda a Honda.

Sincerely,
HONDA CANADA INC

H. Kobayashi President & CEO

I wonder if enough buyers from 2006 model complain we can all get our $1000 - i mean if they are rewarding buyers of the 8thgen civic non si's then why not all buyers of R18 engines? It doesn't make sense to restrict it by such a recent date.

i went to my dealer yesterday and asked about the Honda Benefit

they checked if i was eligible (which i am)

they gave me a sheet to fill out that you send to Honda along with a photo copy of your bill of sale and ownership

they also told me that Honda will send a letter to all eligible people that will have the sheet that my dealer gave me inside

and when everything is done, $1000 dollar cheque from Honda will be on its way

Yes it DOES make sense. Honda is responding to Canadian government legislation that came into effect in March 2007 that excluded their 'greener' cars while including competitors. They're simply trying to stay competitive price wise with those other marques who have the government providing the $1000 dollars for them. Since this discrepancy didn't exist before March of this year there's no $1000 difference they feel compelled to make up on vehicles sold before that date.
