Rant about your Civic thread

DAMN YOU HONDA!!! Why did you make a car that requires SO MUCH WORK just to change the damn light bulb!?

I just got HIDs... my old 2000 Civic SiR I could do it in 5 minutes... RSX.. 5 minutes.. EP3.. 5 minutes..
I can't justify installing HIDs on my car if it requires 30 minutes+++

Dammit as if I wasn't complaining enough about the stupid DBW... why is the DBW on the TSX so good.. and the one on the civic so crap!?

The parts counterman at a dealership was really surprised when I told him the passenger bulbs has to be accessed through the wheel well. He went out to have a look and was in shock. He told me he didn't even know it himself.

welcome to HID lighting, Dom.

my buddy that works for honda says, "he hates working on our cars."

it's pretty annoying how we need to do that to change the bulbs. the engine bay is tiny compared to older gens.

the bulbs aren't THAT difficult to change out... 2 clips, pull back the liner and replace the bulb... it should only take like 10 mins...

you forgot HID+Coils+Intake gang... i don't think i'll get an exhaust... i like the stock exhaust sound... and i need to save up for wheels&tires...

what exhaust did u get?

For me the hardest light bulb to change was the driver's side high beam because of that effing coolant resevoir, it was such a PIA to get back in!

You can say that again. I worked around it and tilted the battery back though. It was a 10 second job after that sucker was leaned back.

OKAY ONCE AGAIN DAMN YOU HONDA CIVIC!

I install my HIDs.. madd pipe ties... wire and ballist mounted with perfection.. I flick my lights on..!!!!.... wait.,. wtf.. NO LIGHTS..
took another long ass while trying to trouble shoot the damn thing only to figure out the wire from my power source to my ballist on BOTH sides are somehow not working (maybe resistance problem?) ended up plugging plugging the power wire directly to the ballist without the extension wires

Anyhoo I know that part isn't a Honda problem but DAMN YOU CIVIC..

-When I installed my shifter bushings.. the god damn rubber pieces were so hard to take out..
-when installing the intake there was one screw that was so damn hard to get to.. required me to have my arm bent in the weirdest way to get to it..
-some other ecu with slightly changed programming doesn't work
-when the shop installed my coil overs somehow it turned out with POSITIVE CAMBER in the front
-Exaust... NO COMPLAINT! YAY!
-HIDs.. getting to it from the wheelwell and it didn't work when I first turned it on..

Its like my Civic SI does not wanna be modded..

One good thing came outta trying to install the HIDs tho... I took out my coolant resevoir tank.. and IT WAS EMPTY! Do not ask me how.. but IT WAS EMPTY! I'm wondering was it before or during track day that this happend.. gotta go get some during my break at work..

my wife's accord has to go thru the fender to get at her bulbs, took me all of 5 minutes including reading the manual while sitting on the ground.

my real complaint is the craptastic paint quality. had the car for 10months and i feel like I've used the better part of an entire paint pen for touch ups.

other than that its a good car. you get what you pay for. and i didnt pay a whole lot

Where are you mounting your ballasts if you're doing the job in 15-20 minutes? I took about an hour to install mine. Most of the time I had to peel back the wheel well on both sides and mount the ballasts underneath the headlights, right in front of the fender.

lol a 2-4 would hv been nice.. dammit! but yo.. a 2 BY 4 would hv been better.. I'd freaking beat the **** outta my ballast.!! :P
CYA AT THE JUNE 2nd MEET! OR CALL ME TIHS WEEKEND!!!!

and I only had to go from the fender only on the passenger side of my car... because u can take out the coolant resevoir so its so easy to access the driver side...
for future HID installers or for people having to replace bulbs... .. to access the passenger side... just turn ur steeringwheel fully left.. pop out a few of those clips from the to of the fender.. and just pull it down a bit.. enough so u can reach through.. no need to fully take off ur wheelwell

another big problem I Had was looking for a place to secure down the ballast cuz I drive like I'm on estacy the whole day... I'm sure most SI drivers do.. so we don't want the thing hanging too loose... but for my my passenger ballast is right under/behind my passenger daytime light.. and my driver side its sandwiched between the plastic between the pastic fender protector and the writing to the ecu... I also pipe tied it down

Theres a sweet spot to secure the ballast in the wheelwell, or behind the fog lights (if you have em) its kinda like a bridge or an arch and it's pretty much the only thing you can see when you peel back the wheelwell. i drive fairly crazy too (not gonna compare cause i am a newbie driver LOL) and i find that area is like the G-Spot for ballasts

The "g-spot" for the ballasts. That's where I have (or had) my ballasts mounted as well. There's a little hole that's perfect for holding the bracket.
