Skunk2 Camshafts

Hello fellow 8th gen,

I'm debating on getting camshafts and I was looking thru and came up with two options. I will either choose Skunk2 Stage 1 or 2 tuner camshafts or go with the Toda Vtec Killer cams. Please give me some of your inputs so it can help me decide. Thanks guys

Pass on both

The Si have 3 lobe VTEC rockers on both cams so no need for "vtec killer" cams, as for skunk2... People have had serious problems running those cams so I'd be weary going to that brand.

IDK but are you willing to find out ?

Personally if a particular cam has had issues I would stay away from it. That's me though.

Rick
I've run over 75 sets of Skunk2 Tuner 3 Version 3's on a couple cars. All we did was what most skip and replace the tensioner with a new honda oem unit.

Haven't had any issues and I beat the living piss out these cars as well. So if the chain was going to jump and send the valves crashing, I would of did it already.

When you guys say you replaced the tensioner with an OEM one what do you mean? Did Honda make a stronger one available?

Sorta but not really, it's just that getting a new one in there instead of the used one on the car.

supercharger is a way better value IMO.

Changing valve train ain't cheap, at best I've seen on stock block was 30hp increase.

Supercharger gives you instant 60-70 at the wheels with OEM reliability.

decisions decisions

skunk2 stage2 cams are tricky. Its all about the tune if you have problems or not. They make good top end power. The low cam doesn't like high cam angles.keep them low and your good. I have sk2 stg2 v 3 cams and they are no joke.Pulls hard!!!!!!!! With all the right bolt on you'll make good power

I agree on that, I was just saying in terms of value ($ per hp).

Something special about NA IMO.
