Question for Californians with FS/FT threads

You guys sell so much stuff that other people would love to have but 90-95% of the time you put local pick up only. Why? Specially when someone else is going to pay for the shipping. Just curious guys. Just... curious.

Its just so much easier to do local pick up. And half the time people are not willing to pay for the shipping.

For example, you are trying to sell a set of rims for $500. Shipping is going to run you about....$150. Some guy in Ohio wants to buy your rims....but he will only offer you $550 shipped. Or thereabouts. Its just not worth it. And then you get paypal fees.....

Its just so easy to sell stuff local with so many civic owners in the California area. Cash monies > paypal/shipping.

I could understand it would be a pain to package and box it all up and then ship it depending on the size just my thoughts.

Especially rims, suspension, exhausts, body parts.

An intake would be about the biggest thing I would ship. Intakes, shift knobs, filters, etc would be ok.

I can see that. I shipped my old Enkies to San Diego from PA and it was a lot but the member was willing to pay for the cost of shipping. What about when someone is willing to pay the cost of shipping? I've still seen people say, "local only."

I ask you guys because the Californians seem to sell more sh*t than anyone else on here who isn't a vendor.

I can also understand you saying "it's just so easy to sell stuff local with so many civic owners in the california area." The same could be said for the NE folks. Hondas are in an abundance in Jersey, NY and Philly. Most of them would prefer to do local pick up/delivery but I know that a lot of those guys will sell if you're willing to pay.

I'm not picking by any means. I'm just frustrated man because I see so much stuff and then below it is a rash "local pick up ONLY." It pisses me off. I'm sure it pisses others off too.

If I want it bad enough, and the price you're asking is right. I'll pay. I may be on a budget from time to time but when I have the $ I am by no means a cheap a**. Sometimes ya gotta pay mucho $$$ for the stuff ya want.

I don't mind shipping, considering the nature of my work. But, local is just so much easier. Totally willing to ship out, when I can find some nicely priced shipping methods.

Well then in that case let us just post it in our local thread that way no one get butt hurt for not being able to buy it. Its a lot easier to deal with someone who's local and when they pick up you know that they will be getting the parts the way you sold them. If you were to ship it then you have to worry about it getting their on time, undamaged, and not getting screwed by someone who says their something missing when you know it was all their. Its more of a convenience.

Awesome.

I love Top Gear. I can watch it more than normal television, and I do. LOL. I don't know if you got Jeremy Clarkson's Supercar Challenge, but that one was EXCELLENT too...12 or so supercars, all in Ascari's (the owner) test track in Spain. Beautiful.

my guess would be that limiting it to california isnt really much of a hinderance on the sale. there is such a popularity of car modding that its just about guaranteed that soem one local will want it. and thererfor there is no reason to HAVE to deal with the hassle of shipping and or/damaged parts.

on the other hand, some one in bumblefuck, US will need to ship because the car modding scene isnt as big.

jsut my $0.02.

There's also that eastcoasters get the short end of the stick, y'know. If I was in DFW, I'd so very willingly ship out to everywhere. Dealing with the EC though, since it's further away, they get shafted for shipping prices, most times.

I've guiltily played Top Gear in class while taking an essay test. Professor didn't mind that we listened to music and such, so I just put my earphones on, and turned on Top Gear. I was typing out my essay on my notebook. Helped me concentrate, and the vocabulary certainly helped. Got an A on those two essays. LAWLS.

Isn't it amazing what a nice dosage of British entertainment will do for your vocabulary? lol. I love watching BBC.

I've likely learned more proper English watching random BBC shows than being in English class all these years.
