Interesting C.A.R.B./Tinting Dilemma
I have an black 07 Si Sedan, and I want to get some tinting done, mostly due to the heat issue during the summer in order to keep the car a little cooler while it is parked. I bought and registered the car in Ohio, where I am originally from, but I drove it out to LA the week I got it, because I go to school/am working for the summer and will be out here after I graduate.
Could I get away with having the car tinted to Ohio tint laws, which is any tint on the back windows and up to 50% on the front two? My excuse could be that I got the car tinted in Ohio before I drove it out, but I worry that the cop wouldn't give a crap and would give me the fix it ticket anyway. I don't drive like an idiot and am very inconspicuous while I am on the road, although I really couldn't afford to get many fines. That leads me into my next question: C.A.R.B. and passing emmissions. While I believe that I might be under carb jurisdiction while I am living in CA, would having Ohio plates give me enough of a case to get out of an illegal modification ticket? I haven't done anything to my car yet, as I wanted to cover all of my bases, but I really want to do the whole I/H/E, reflash deal. All i want is for my car to be blacked-out and badass, but I feel like the man ( ) is getting me down. Thanks for any help! |

well if its registered in ohio and passes ohio state laws the cop cant legally give you a fix it ticket. That would be like if i lived in arizona i could NEVER go into california just because of my tinted front windows haha. and again for the smog and carb testing, as long as its registered in ohio and follows their state laws on that stuff then do WHATEVER you want to your car. and i mean whatever

So i got a ticket for having front window tint on my Subaru. The cop was just a hardass.. theres nothing you can say. He can say no problem, ill only give a fixit ticket, that way it wont go on your record, its just like a warning.. all you have to do is wait for instructions to arrive in the mail about how to fix your car and get rid of the ticket.
a few months later, nothings arrived in the mail, one day, about a month ago i got a letter that said i did not follow instructions, and therefore my license is suspended. i had to mail my license in, then when i went to the court, they said oh yea the cops always say that they dont know what their talking about, you shoulda came to court. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED THE COP ABOUT THE COURT APPEARANCE DATE ON THE BOTTOM, HE SAID "DONT WORRY ABOUT IT" SOMETHING WILL ARRIVE IN THE MAIL. as of today my license is still suspended.. i have to wait to hear from them, i already sent a check for $251 to the court.. chp *AKA TRIPLE A WITH A HANDGUN* can come suck my dick. oh by the way hello there wakeboarder ![]() |
