Question Legal Tint % in Cali?

I plan to tint my NHBP FG2, what is the legal % in Cali? Or is tint legal at all?

You can definitely get away with 5% in the back an rear windows, and 20% in the front windows.

If it's totally blacked out in the front, cops will pull you over.

i thought 50% was the legal limit in california for the front sides. or do you mean from your experience, that 20% is not too bad to get you unwanted attention left and right?

im thinking about doing the front windshield as well, but what do you guys suggest %wise for it. i know its not legal for the front to be tinted except the strip, but if i have to do it, what % would i go with?

yeah its kind of on luck. I have 15 all around on my si sedan and the front strip. Only problem is where i live i have to roll the fronts down if i see a cop. So i guess its more or less how much you care about the po' po's

Nope. I got pulled over in my Corrado and the bike cop wrote me a long list of violations.. One of them happened to be the tint. At least in San Diego county (and I'm pretty sure the rest of Cali) you can pay the fine. I wasn't pulling my tint off that's for sure.. Fixing it allows you to avoid the fine with a small administrative charge..

actually fixing it requires you to pay to have it removed and then a CHP has to sign off on a paper that you actually removed it. I think it is a $10 fee...PLUS the money spent to remove it.

I got a ticket one time where the cop checked a box stating NO...and what that meant was that it was not a fix it ticket and the tint ticket cost me almost $200......guess if he couldnt get me for anything else, he was gonna get me for this BS.
This happened in Los Angeles County.

No uou don't have to pay to get it taken off.. you can do it yourself if you are capable.. But yes it does have to be verified.. and I did mention the small fee...

according to Milpitas Police (I sometimes worked at the city of Milpitas to test their Fire/Life safety device) and chated with some Police officer. any Tint in passenger and driver side are illegal. but you can get away by 70%, and you can go as dark as you want in the back side.
