Question about Los Angeles

I'm planning on going to LA for vacation cuz i never been to California before. I got a couple of question before i make my decision

1. Is it safe in LA?? cuz i heard ppl said that LA has a lot of crimes and gangs. Is there anywhere in LA i should watch out for or don't go there???

2. I probably gonna stay somewhere downtown LA. Where should i go for fun? What restaurant is good around there? What can i do in LA?

Thank you

1. stay away from brentwood. east los angeles is where all the deals are to be found.

2. find a mexican hot dog vendor with a cart loitering around the fashion districts and staples/convention center. its like $4 for a hot dog but i swear it'll change your world!. pinks is overrated, and not worth the long wait.

1. Crime rates in LA are at historic lows. I wouldn't worry about it.

2. Peruse the AAA book.

I lived in east L.A. most of my life, and i have to say it's not all that bad. but west L.A. and downtown is another story, it's all F@#ked up! really! anything west of downtown and east of east L.A., IS COOL. and any of the beach cities. good luck with your trip bro, hope you have a good time.

1. Stay out of these cities at night: Compton, watts, Inglewood, Firestone/Florance... cant really think of more
LA in general is safe, I've never had a problem, but i am Asian but look white. My Hispanic and African friends have more problems, which sucks

2. Your going to live in downtown? You've got to go to little Tokyo. it rocks!

1. I think aslong as your a polite human being there should be no problems. But dont park in shady looking places and dont walk around with a wad of cash in your hand I guess. LAs nice, I havent been shot or murdered a single time the whole 20 years Ive lived here. TV really exagerates things.

2. If you like Ramen then find Hakata Ramen Shinsengumi in Rosemead. the address is 8450 E. Valley Blvd. #103 Rosemead CA 91770

Don't worry. You'll love it. I usually stay in East LA and my only complaints are the potholes.

Brentwood is safe I thought. Didn't a football player live there or something?? What a dick. Sorry but that has to if not by now catch up to him.

If I'm going to live in the same neighborhood as a Simpson, it better be Jessica.

wtf, y would you go to downtown LA, it blows there, seriously. And its not that crazy as the tv makes it look.
I would highly recommend going to Universal Studios which is in Universal City which isnt real far from downtown LA, its BAMF! there, really fun and you will enjoy yourself. Then again it is the Entertainment capitol of LA, haha. But hey, where are you from?

nice! another shinsen-gumi fan! i still prefer the torrance locations for shinsen-gumi ramen and yakitori.

LA is pretty safe. i'm in LA right now and have been flying back and forth between LA and Toronto at least 4 times/year for the last 5 years so I'm pretty familiar with the areas and roads now. it's not "training day" if you're worried about safety. just stay away from the known ghetto burbs and you'll be fine. personally, i think the boroughs in NYC are more rougher than LA.

what the hell is wrong with brentwood? i guess if you dont like rich white people you should steer clear..

and why east Los Angeles? better off just staying in downtown. Aside for the fact of the traffic down there during working hours, it's pretty neat.

hey seeing as op already went so his questions i guess were answered. instead of making a whole new post for the exact same topic i thought i would ask a few questions. leaving sept 26th for 5 days. main reason for going is cars, girls and s tourist sites. can anyone suggest some places to go to maybe see some lambos, ferrari's, bugattis and porsches? also are the girls down there that great (as on tv?) and besides the obvious disneyland/universal any other things/places you would suggest for a major car nut? (oh and when does the laker season start?) thanks for any input!
