Will illegal tint fail inspection/registration?

I currently live in Missouri but am moving to CA this fall. I want to tint my windows here in MO before I go.

I know CA has a no-tint law on front windows, however if I do get them tinted here and then move, will the tint cause me to fail getting my car registered in CA?

I'm only looking at a 35% tint and would be willing to take my chances with it unless I'm going to be forced to remove it as soon as I try to register and/or inspect it in CA.

I would appreciated thoughts from you all who actually live out there and have to deal with it daily.

Here in MO, 35% is the darkest you can go on the fronts, but everybody runs 18% without an issue.

I'm moving to Redding, and it gets darn hot there...sure would be nice to have the fronts tinted too.

If I do tint the fronts, and have to remove it...which I assume I would have to eventually (question is how long)...are there any downsides to having the tint removed?

You shouldn't have a problem. When I registered my car from texas in california. the clerk at the DMV just went outside to check the vin and that was it.

Worst case scenario, you tell them the tints are legal whre you came from and you haven't had a chance to take them off yet.

My old Integra had tints (all around 50% maybe?) and we didn't have a problem when we moved from Nevada into CA.
