another word of advice is try to accept the government interest free loans, you dont have to pay it back until 6 months after oyu graduate and it has no interest with the inflate rate rising its like getting free money for jdm conversion or turbo kits

Thats how i felt upon enrolling into the school. I took this summer program called summer bridge and it was a blast. THe people are so friendly and chill. It will grow on you over time. Youre not the only one who feels this, but if its a money problem then any community college is great...besides occ hottest student body but ucr's is among the top when it comes to asian girls!

If you really don't want to go to UCR, then don't. Going to OCC isn't a bad thing. My girlfriend wanted didn't want to go to UCR, but she really didn't want to go to a community college. She ended up wanting to go to UCI with me, but it's really really hard to transfer from another UC. They told her to go to a community college her sophomore year to get into the transfer program if she really wanted to transfer or else it won't happen. If you still planning on transferring later, it's best to go with a community college. It would just be 2 years and I don't think it's that hard if your serious about going to a UC. I know a guy that transferred to UCI with a 2.5 GPA from OCC.

its really not that hard to transfer from uc to uc. tons of people transfer, just have to be realistic with one's grades. ppl just don't want to go to cc and live at home with the parents

You sure it's not that hard? Because we were talking to a few transfer counselors and they didn't give us much hope. Seems like all they care about are the people who aren't already in UCs. Do you have any info on transferring from UC to UC because I would really like to know a good way of going about it. The conselors said that my girlfriend can still apply, but the odds will be against her because she didn't go to a community college.

i'm pretty sure its not that hard..i go to ucr also and the couselors usually just say that its hard because they want you to stay at riverside...my friends wanted to transfer out of riverside to either uci..or w/e so they went to talk to the couselors or something over at uci..and asked them how to do it..UCR is obviously gonna tell you its really hard because they want you to stay here.. oo and i've seen your car in the lothian parking lot a couple times..hahaha nice ride

Well , its purely anecdotal, but a handful of my friends have transfered to SD and Irvine, and its not like they were geniuses. 3.5> _ >3

I have mixed feelings towards counselors They told me to select my major carefully on my undergrad app because its difficult to change once your in college. Now i realize its incredibly easy for nearly all majors and people change all the time. I shoulda applied to study tree fungus or something else on the fringe, probably would have gotten into a better college.
