Body Shop-Paint

Recently (November) I got rear ended, nothing major.. just put two holes in my bumper. Got it fixed and painted at the Honda dealer in Hemet. (early December) However, they don't do paint blending because they say that the material is different (Plastic vs Metal) and that because it was painted in different locations, they don't blend it to match. So pretty much my car is two different colors. Now I have two questions,

1) Can I call the insurance company in which I went through to dispute this and have it fixed so that my car is one color?

2) How much would it cost (rough estimates) to get it blended to match the rest of my car and if I got the HFP kit, so it wouldn't look like another color? Also what body shops can you recommend that could give me a VERY good price. I am on a budget.

It makes me sick every time I look at my car to see two different shades of silver, and honestly.. it is VERY noticeable. Please help me in ANY way possible. I would gladly appreciate whatever you guys can provide me with. Thanks.

Silver is a very har color for them to blend in, and mach i just got a body kit and the color that we got from Honda ( using color code ) is a bit difrent tone than the original, trust me i have the silver also, and i know what you mean i hate seeing it but i just dont have the cash to get them to blend it because they have to shoot atleast half way into the closes fender after ther remove the clear coat and all that, so it can get pricy provaly like over 1,500$ i would say.

the not blending sucks but yeah, the plastic vs metal is correct. My car from factory looks like two diff colors. Bumpers are different than the body. Cant really notice it under the sun but under artoficial light you can see the diff.

I have the same problem my bumpers are a slight different shade of silver. A complete repaint would fix it good though.lol

compared to when i got my car from the factory to the way it looks now, its just horrible. atleast when it first bought the car, i couldn't notice the difference, but now it is just way to noticeable. im gonna try to get some estimates this week.

if you went through insurance the paint job should have 1 year of warranty.

well diamond valley honda said that the warranty is lifetime, but they said they wont' do anything about the bumper being a different shade of silver from the rest of the car because they don't blend. freakin retarded..

probably $300-$400 for a good job.

a good body shop will take a reading of the bodywork right where the bumper connects and paint match to that. they will also paint it so that the metallic flakes reflect about the same, because with metallic paint, they way you paint it makes a difference.

i can kinda see the difference. im anal about that stuff. i had the same issue with my old silver accord cuz it was repainted by the honda dealers body shop. then i got into a accident and had to buy another bumper. but this tims i knew a guy at one day paint and body and he just followed the paint code on the side of the door and turned pretty good. who ever painted your bumper probably didnt follow or use the color code for your car.
