Simple....

On a car with NO MAF sensor, run an oiled.

On a car WITH a MAF sensor stay clear.

The air filter oil can get in to the maf's little temp wires and other spots in the maf and cause problems, now if you clean the filter and put next to nothing for oil on it and use a compressor and a towel to get anything xtra off it will work, but it's not worth the cost of the maf if done wrong.

I liked oiled filters alot better, caught more dirt and alot easier to clean as the dirt sticks to the oil and not the cotton gauze of the filter. But my car has no maf sensor.

when it comes to filter and oiling, its a "to each his/her own" thing. I have always run oiled filters on every car I ever owned and have never had an issue, now on turbo cars I don't run a filter at all! any restriction on the suction side of the turbo is horse power loss.

mine and the gentleman that thought me to tune old saying "If it aint suckin in dirt, it aint makin power"
