Speeding on freeway

So I just got a ticket for speeding. The cop came up behind me from waaaaaaay back. Wrote it out as 80+ in a 65. I asked if he could show me the radar and he said he didn't have me on radar, he used his speedo. Funny thing is I wasn't going 80+ and I know he made it up, based on his speed to catch me?

Another thing is my g/f was behind me and he told me he got on at 'X' street when really it was the street after, 'Y'...and he was going onto another freeway when he decided to cut across multiple lanes to get me. So he said he was "following me" when in fact he wasn't. I know he wasn't because I checked my mirrors as I always do. He said "I got on right behind you"....which is dumb because my g/f was right behind me and no other cars got on. Plus she is a witness. I don't plan on using her in person for my defense, but I am waiting the $$$ because if it is outrageous I plan on fighting it.

Kinda weird because this is how it went...

he walked up "I got you going in excess of the posted speed limit...license, reg, insurance"
handed it to him
him "I'll be right back"
comes back "sign here, not admission to guilt"
me "wow you really got me at 80+? Can I see radar?"
him "I didn't get you on radar"
me "speedo"
him "please sign and if you dont get a paper in 30 days, call"

the end...lol. Didn't ask if I knew what I was doing, how fast I thought I was going...thought it was kinda weird.

Too bad he didn't see when I got cut off by some mexican in a van who wasn't signaling, which is why I moved over and sped up to avoid getting hit.

my girl..."wtf? You NEVER speed..."

sucks.

Any input on a 80+...I was thinking $400, but then I read someone got a 8mph over for $350...so now I am thinking $700+? I hope not...just dropped $400 on college books.

Did you postpone? I'm not mad at him because everyone was going over 65 for the most part. I just didnt know he was lying until my girl told me where he really came from. Plus he didn't ask why I was speeding to at least hear if something was the matter or whatever. I guess he doesn't need to, but IMO writing 80+ in a 65 when you are guessing isn't quite doing your job too well. It will probably be ruled guilty...which paying court fees plus the ticket would suck...but perhaps my great record could get it reduced in half, plus the fact I am a college student, FT, and a FT worker and upstanding citizen with no prior run ins.
Fair is fair...and this situation wasn't fair.

I just looked at the court date and it is days before my vacation. If I want to contest it, do I postpone it via the internet ...before mailing in a certified letter with the bail amount?

Now see, YOU were being a douchebag...IMO.

I was driving with my g/f...to meet at my house...avoided being sideswiped by a stupid person in a van, and had no reason to be doing 80+ with my g/f following. My dad said, "hey maybe he saw an accord and ended up pulling you over."

I really don't know what happened, but there are too many weird things going on for it to be legit IMO.

That's good to know. I'm going to try to find out how much court fees, etc. are if I lose the case. If it is under $300 I may just pay it, but damn I'd feel guilty even though I am not and that pisses me off. Court date will postponed until 12-23, perhaps he will be on vacation out of town.

fight it. i had gotten a ticket for 65 in a 40 zone and the cop told me he used his speedo. i was like ok...
when it was time to pay the ticket, i fought it and won because he had no proof. radar or laser wasn't circled on the ticket

I've done some research on fighting tickets. I plan to pay the fine, but plead not guilty. But I am going to extend it until right before Xmas...and simply write in by declaration. I think I'd have a better shot because there are too many what ifs?
Judge might be pissed the day of in person trial...
Someone could piss him off right before I go up
Cop could be friends or friendly with judge
I could appear weak and lying because I get nervous
I have anxiety and don't do well in large groups, where I feel clastraphobic...

Plus I read the cop doesn't get paid to write his summary. I've already wrote my defense last night, dated in an e-mail. So I will be more accurate than he could ever be 3 months later with Xmas stuff weighing down on him. Plus if he never sees my face he might not remember anything about the incident.
On the other hand, I hope I don't screw myself and end up having to pay the MAX with no chance at traffic school PLUS court costs.

We shall see.

Yes it should be. My friend got a ticket for speeding but the officer wrote down F instead of M for gender. He got it dismissed.

As for ticket prices, I got one for 106 in a 60. That one was $108.50 (I sweet talked the judge a lil, brought my dad, and did an online AAA driving school haha). Another one for 75+ in a 60 and that was $244.50
