My first ticket!

God damn it! I got pulled over today. N880 by Brokaw. Cop was in the right lane, I was in the left lane, behind a car that was going like 63mph. The cop drives faster, then goes slower, and then I see him pull up right behind me. Then I'm like...omg...then he turns his lights on, and im like...****, wtf! So I pull over.

He said it was illegal for me to have anything on my tail lights because it reduces the visibility. He asked me if I had anything under the hood, and I said just an intake, so he asked me to pop the hood. He asked me if i had any paper work proving that its carb legal or something, and since I bought it used, i didnt have anything.

So basically, I have to take my laminx film off to get that fixed. And i also have to prove that my injen cai is legal. Get it refereed or something.

This is my first ticket ever. Is the lamin-x film reuseable once i take it off? Do people usually just take it off...get the ticket signed off...then put the film back on? Would they know i've been pulled over for it before if i get pulled over for it again? Am I going to have to pay anything?

I'm sorta bummed...

It sounds like a "fix it" ticket, not sure. But yea, just remove them.
I don't know how dark they are but they must be pretty dark if he noticed them that much.

heh, you shouldn't have said you have an intake most likely he won't ask you to pop the hood...injen is still in the "pending" status of having their intake carb legal

as for the smoked taillights, take them off, they don't look all that great anyways; and I don't think you can reuse them, once you peel them it'll rip

Hmmm...I think you have to uninstall your cai, go to state ref, and re-install it.

wow that sucks. i've only been pulled over once and i got a warning. (knock on wood) and it was a young cool cop who let me go for doin 65 in a 45. Ive gotta be extra careful in my Si because its so different from my old car. Ive had acouple "oh shit" moments when i look at my mph realizing im doing 20 over. haha

damn that sucks! but no i dont think the film is reusable. but if you want to keep them just pay the fine if its not too much.

yea...injen's website doesnt note an EO# next to our intakes. so am just going to have to take it off like harry said? anyone want to do that for me for free? i'm mechanically challenged and i dont want to go to the shop to pay them again. i still got my stock box

Why would you want to put the smoked tails back on? That IS the reason you were pulled over... why would you want to give a cop a reason to pull you over? To me, that is just stupid.

Think about it, in 1 year you will be 21. You may find yourself able to drive (sober but w/ alcohol in blood) after a night at the bar with piglet vultures roaming the parking lots (yes they do that). You have smoked tails and get pulled over. You get breathalysed and get a DUI. All because of SMOKED TAILS.

That's a pretty good point, but you deserve it if you're driving while intoxicated. Overall it's better not to give a cop a reason to pull you over.

Look on the bright side, its not a moving violation and you don't have to pay any fine or deal with traffic school. Swapping an intake, removing film, and flagging down a cop at your local donut shop is a pretty simple task. Man up and take care of it, its not that big of a deal.

i have tinted front windows too, i could get pulled over for that. i normally dont go 65 on the freeway either

This is why I have my car the way it is. Been playing with cars to long to know what I can get away with. As for popping your hood, you didn't have to. You were not involved in any speeding or racing activity. The pig has no right to check. To even search your car and engine, you must be on probation or they must have a search warrant. Probable cause BS don't cut it either.

For your CAI, do what Harry said. Just put the stock intake back in and say that you removed the CAI and went back to stock.

As for the tint, don't listen to people and their opinions of it. You asked what to do in reguards of solving the problem... just ask a friend if you can borrow their tail lights for a an hour and go to the station or find a cop and get your ticket signed off and give the tail lights back after. Or even better, if you can find a buddy that knows a cop, they can just get them to sign your ticket off and you don't even have to hassle with the tail lights at all.

i just made an appointment for friday for the state ref on my intake. i was wondering...are they going to check everything? should i be worried that im going in there with 35% tint on my front windows? or do they only check whats on the ticket? im going to Wyotech in fremont.

do u know anybody with a a 4 door that u can switch tail lights for a couple days so that u dont have to take the lamin-x off. then when u have the ticket taken care of put ur tail lights back in.
