Tickets for me too

Since SirRyan told his story about ticket, i think i need to ask you guys what to do about this situation.

it was one of the foggy morning days, and i was driving from vallejo to solano CC for my morning class. i was cruising at 70-75 mile since i just got my traffic school taken care of for speeding at 90 miles down 101 south.

i saw my speedometer at 78 miles and i thought o S$#%, so i slowed down and changed lane one to my right.
couple secs later CHP pulls me over and tells me that my front windows are tinted and i need to get'em removed. i told him yes sir, i didn't know (like the hell i didnt know) and i'll get'em off asap. and then he asks me for my licence and registration, and i asked him,

do i get ticket for the windows?

he says, no u were going at 85 miles an hour

i was like WTF?!

i said, sir, i did not, and i kept myself with normal traffic pace. can i see ur speeder to prove that?

then he took my stuff and went back to his car, came back with the ticket.

i said once more, sir, can i see the radar? i really did not go that fast.
he said, u did, and if u wanna contest it, see me in court.

i was totally left clueless there for while..

i used to work with lapd and i know for sure that u have rights to ask for such, goddamn chippies...

i asked around and plan to contest this thing.. but some ppl told me to get a lawyer, some ppl tells me show up in court, some ppl tells me just contest by writing a letter..

what am i supposed to do in this one??

i never had any experience like this with a cop (perhaps i landed a jackpot on that day)

Is this your first speeding ticket within the last 18 months? How much is the ticket?

If you have money and it's your first ticket, I would pay and request traffic school. This will gaurantee you won't get a point on your record.

Here's what I did when I had my second speeding ticket within 6 months of my first:
The day of the court date or due date of the ticket is usually 2-3 months after the citation. So on that date, I requested Trial By Declaration (fight ticket through letter) and then had to pay the ticket. Now, I have another 30 days to "delay" the ticket. On the final day, I handed the clerk my side of the story and less than a month later, I was found "Not Guilty". A couple of weeks later, I received a check for the ticket I paid earlier.

This was in Oakland, BTW.

I got a ticket on Solano County back in the end of 2004 on I-80. You gotta be more careful around there. CHP said I did 85mph. The bill was about $270...it might even be higher now since that was in 2004. Good luck with the ticket. Pay more attention around Solano County since they got a CHP Office right off the freeway.

I got a way to get away with speeding tickets but you would have to talk to me in person or phone to find out. I know there's a few pigs floating around the forums, so I don't want to give them a heads up on how to beat a ticket.

what does it say on the ticket? does it say he used a radar? or estimated? according to that you can fight it

I've got a "clocked, estimated" speeding ticket before, went to court and was found not guilty for the speeding
