Sorry about the kaboom! see if you can take pictures of the bottom end tear down. I would like to see what failed... the rod, the piston, the sleeve. It would be nice to know! GL with the rebuild! Go k24 or build the bottom end!

Lol, sadly I get whored about not fixing my Rx7 right away almost every day of my life till now. And it's been blown for almost 3 years =(.

As for mods if I do get a k20 bottom end from the dealer I'm not gonna open it up. I'm probably just gonna get a Cometic headgasket and some ARP headstuds. Along with getting a lighter flywheel and stronger clutch. I'm still pondering whether or not to fill my mounts since we have no mounts out yet for our car but my car is a daily driver so I might get annoyed.

Ok, I went by the manual since I have it so I went step by step. But if I were to cut out all the breaks, visiting my friend at her work and picking up my hoist... I'd say 40 minutes for top stuff including the radiator, a little more than an hour for all the bottom stuff and dropping the subframe, and about another hour to drop it with the hoist onto my creeper and then hoist the car up high enough for me to slide it out. I fought nothing whatsoever with this car. Everything is super simple....

Jnaut is running with a k24 bottom end? In our 06+ civics? What's he using for tuning? I pmed him a few days ago about the k20 block he had for sale but he hasn't gotten back to me yet on how it blew. There's a guy in Ohio that's selling a complete TSX bottom end with wiring for 1100. He's reputable cause he's a friend of the guy at Prostreet. Only thing is I'd have to pay for shipping.

I'll take everything apart hopefully tonight when I get back from work. If not then tomorrow morning.

sweet dude..atleast your not afraid to run it again...go k23, the displacement from the k24 wouldn't suit the powerband of the head too well, the crank counterweights are too heavy, and meant for all low end torque, it would drag your rpm band down pretty hard, maybe good for drag race, but that would be it. The k23 is a good median, but it is kind of pricy, you can always go SPOON K20A, lol

or just make a crazy project car and put your rotary in the si! that way you can have two cars in one

Sorry about that brotha!. But you seem like you're taking care of it. It's all good. How many rubber Motor mounts do our FG2's have anyways? I can only see 2 of them when I've got my hood popped. Are these 2 the most important to keep saturated and soft with some kinda rubber protectant to keep from drying out and cracking?.

You can borrow it if you want. But I get pretty butthurt when I find additional dings and scratches on stuff I hand out. So if you do borrow it you gotta take care of it.

Lowering the powerband isn't bad at all. It'll never go low enough to eliminate power up top. Our heads have the same flow as others just a stronger valve train. A lightweight flywheel and sharkfinning the crank can help compensate. But I'm trying to stay away from that idea as of right now to avoid the tuning hassle.

If I were able to wipe my ass with $100 dollar bills after I crap I would soooo be putting the rotary motor into the FG2. But for now... they stay separated -=/.

We have 4. 1 on each side which is what you see up top. And 2 more at the bottom with 1 in the rear and 1 in the front connected to the subframe. You don't want to saturate the mounts with anything other than with rubber grease. Anything else will create a coating that will brittle out from the engine heat and cause the rubber to crack even faster. You don't really do anything to them. If they go out they go out. But the first ones to go out are usually the front and rear mounts because they're the ones that get most of the impact from the motor torquing.

Haha what a nice guy... it's ok... I'll end up taking your chips anyway when I see them haha.
