NASA HPDE at Laguna Seca on Jan 19 & 20

I'll be there with my red Civic Si since I don't think my race car will pass the sound limit (92 db at 50 ft).

Anyone else from here going?

I'll be #511.

NASA is a road racing body, like SCCA.

HPDE = High-Performance Driving Education

Basically, it's lapping days at road race tracks like Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow, etc.

Depends on whose running them and where, but typically most events run about $250-$300 per weekend or $125-$200 per day. Not cheap but it is fun and relatively safe.

Generally, at the beginner level you will drive with an instructor. Once they feel you are safe they let you drive solo.

After Action Report:

Laguna Seca is a great track and our cars do very well there. There was another guy with an '07 Si sedan. His car did well, too. I didn't push my car hard at all as I had to drive it back home 300 miles away but it was very well planted during all those corners. The Corkscrew is a blast! It's actually very easy to negotiate. Turn 11 was the most difficult to master as it's a low speed corner leading to the main straight. I found myself taking it in 2nd gear.
