Anyone ever head out to infeneon?

Anyone here ever heard out to infeneon on wednesday nights for drag?
I been going for the last two weeks only seen one Si so far.

I would go, but it's hard to get a day off work to go. The last time I went was with my Evo, but it was lame, because they kicked me out after my 2nd run for not having a roll cage. I heard they're less anal about it at Sacramento Raceway. =/

You need a roll cage? Are you running 100+ mph? I though you only need a helmet at that speed? o-o

You need a helmet that is Snell M2005/2010 approved if you run 13.99 or faster. (Got mine for $140)

You only need a roll cage if you are running like 11.50 seconds or faster (something along those lines).
Unless your evo was a custom convertible
so either you ran 11.5 or faster or you had a custom convertible haha.
You also need a firesuit if you have nitrous/blower/turbo, but they been pretty lenient on me for that (haven't bought one two times I went)

Yeah. The Evo ran 11.4@122 at Infineon the last time I went out. It was JUST under the 11.5 rule for the roll cage, and wouldn't let me get another run. The Evo was having some issues at the time, which would've been corrected on the next run. I'm not sure if it was the heat, or if my plugs went bad, but I was missfiring in 4th gear, and I bogged my launch a bit. I was already lauching at 5.5k RPM, which usually sends me spinning all four tires on the street, but I guess on the track, it was much stickier there and I ended up bogging. Was hoping for a lower 11 once temps cooled and I got the launch and missfire issues out of the way. I never did get to make it back to the track with the 2.3 stroker. =/

There's some information about my Evo here if you're bored. The 11.4@122 run was done before the 2.3 stroker motor. It was just on a GT3076R on the stock block.

Really? I've never heard anything about the firesuit rule. They did yell at me for taking my t-shirt off and just wearing my undershirt (it was 103*F that day), but other than that, there was no mention of a fire suit. I have a friend who runs in the 9's with his Evo, and he doesn't have to wear a firesuit, although he goes to Sacramento raceway. =/

If you google "full function evo" you'll see videos listed under "pat's evo" or something like that. I believe his best run was somewhere around 9.6@150+

edit: nevermind. He does wear a firesuit. lol.

edit edit: lol. I totally forgot I had a terrible youtube video of that run at the track. (Ignore the fact that it took me forever to get off the line. I was looking at my laptop and setting up the datalog and forgot about the tree... 1.576 reaction time. =P)

Also, funny thing you mention the Evo convertible.. After my Evo IX was totalled, I bought the car back and sold it to Speed Element, and they DID cut the roof off and turn it into a convertible. LOL. So I guess at one point, one of my Evo's did become a convertible.

hehe. Yeah. My friends were like "wtf were you doing?!?" But I had to turn on the datalog on my laptop and then build boost with the 2-step launch control. It takes a good second for it to build some boost for the launch. lol.

I imagine the mustang was probably thinking "I totalled pwned that Evo" until he saw the time slip and realized the 11.4 wasn't his. hehe.

I wear my t-shirt (many other ppl too) all the time and they dont say anything about it, maybe they got lenient about it.
When I go to the strip, the techs always tell me that firesuits are required but I never see it in the rules or the NHRA rules. When I bring this issue up with them, they tell me "i told them to add it in the rules, it should be there".

What kind of 60' are you hitting?

I think my best was like 2.1, but I average 2.3's
any tips?
im launching at only 3k but when I go tomorrow im going to bump it up a bit to 3.5k now and 4k later on

What kind of trap speeds are you hitting?

In regards to the 60'.. If you're getting too much spin off your launch, either lower the RPM or regulate a bit better. If you're bogging, then raise it, but if you're already getting minimal tire spin off the line, then I wouldn't mess with the RPM you're launching at, because that's probably as good as it's going to get on your current tire/suspension setup. 2.1 sounds pretty good for a FWD car on street tires though.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that 1/4 time sounds about right for that trap speed. I wish I had wednesdays off to go to the track. I had to ask for a day off 2 weeks in advance to get the day off work to go last time. lol.
