Ecu And Reflash Questions

I tryed searching and wasnt able to find the answer maybe you can help.

1) Is there any hardware differences between 2006, 2007 and 2008 ECUs
2) If not can a 06 ECU be used for a 07 if it is reflashed? can a 07 ECU be used in a 08 if reflashed?

the reason I ask is because I have access to 06 and 07 ECUS at a good price. Maybe after reflashing i could use them or sell them for that matter

thanks Topplayer.

I believe they are the same (if the 06 ECU has been updated by the dealer) But you still have to bring it to the dealer to have them program your key to it.

This question was just asked a couple of weeks ago, although it really was never answered fully. It seems that the '06 and '07 are not compatible.

06's dont have VSA, that will be an issue, and not I'm not sure if the TPMS will work if equiped with an 07 ECU

Soo maybe this will help on the hondata site they say the 07 and 08 ecu have the same part number

US 07 Civic Si with K20Z3 engine ECU part number RRB-A12
US 08 Civic Si with K20Z3 engine ECU part number RRB-A12

Reflash - K20Z3 06/07 Civic Si

if this is correct does this mean its the same part?
i would think so, but i may be wrong.

Just curious, are you planning on swapping ECU's? with someone who has the reflash?? If so what year are the cars?

I want to get a reflashed ECU but i dont want to have to worry about trading ecus when i sell/trade in my car. I have a 08 and i want to find the cheapest way to get another ecu. I work in scrap metal so i know alot of junk yards/collision centers that get 8th gen civics all the time. now that just got me thinking. can i reflash a 07 r18 ecu or does it have to be a si?

It has to be an Si ECU. Your best bet is to get the reflash, then if you plan on trading/selling the car down the road. I believe its only a $75 charge from hondata to set the ECU to stock.

Is it possible to dump an 06si ecu into an 07...VSA won't work but that is the point! what if you did that and took out the VSA button it would be cool right? And 06 doesn't have a top speed limiter i think
