Mugen Exhaust Sound

I did a search and was unable to find any sources for this. I'm obviously looking into an exhaust and stumbled upon this one and would like to hear what it sounds like + any gains from current owners.

Thanks guys.

Wow, thanks. I may just spend the extra cash and pick one up. Should fit a 2008 SI Sedan perfectly, eh?

What kind of gains are documented, if any?

Is the "Mugen Civic Si 4-Door Sports Silencer" the actual exhaust kit as this web site lists for $875 or am I missing something...

I'm wondering the same thing, I want that exhaust and I was on King Motorsports and have an exhaust listed for 800 or 900 bucks, but I'm not sure if its the actual exhaust, can anyone give us some info on this??

That's not that same one. The exhaust thats used on the Mugen Si sedan is the same one used on the Mugen Civic Type-R in Japan. You can see it here.

The piping is a little bit bigger than stock, 2.5" I think, and will give similar gains to other exhausts out there. Really you're buying the name and sound with this exhaust.

No, it's the same size as stock as me and ezcivictyper found out when putting on his race header. It's 2" inner diameter (same as the oem si exhaust) and it sounds the same to me as the stock si exhaust. It does look better, but is an expensive thing to change when there's no gains.

thats interesting, ive purchased the Mugen Sports Exhaust system myself... and the piping IS larger than the stock. where the were you measuring from? if you measure right @ the flange where it meets the cat..thats inaccurate...it opens up a bit more. its the same size at that flange only so it can bolt up to the stock CAT. for instance if you try to bolt the axle back portion of the exhaust to the stock B-pipe... u will see the difference. LOL

a friend (honda tech.) and myself actually measured it in a few places with his digital calipers. i wrote the specs down somewhere... lemme find them.

ill take official pics with measurements when i install my system on tues (when gasket set comes in).

How did Honda not call you to return the Mugen exhaust system that system is truly regulated and closely monitored by Honda? Little cooling off period?? ha.
Right on the Mugen Si system being larger than the stock Si.
The Kingsport Mugen silencer for $875? is not the Mugen Si silencer(twin loop)
On your Mugen system do you believe the Mugen silencer will bolt to the stock Si "B" pipe?

I'm talking about the mugen catback that's on the mugen si. I'm not gonna argue anything about the axleback that you get from mugen.
In which case, I measured from the midpipe.

You'll have to talk it out with ezcivictyper then. We measured it where it meets the header or cat if you're stock.

yeah I know but "mugen parts" is not the same as Honda "Mugen Si parts" that is another story, Honda way careful not to just send out unless a warranty replacement...whats your thoughts on the Mugen Si quick shifter looks to be available now...Mugen Si axleback/silencer does not bolt to stock Si B pipe but is larger even though, your right it does slim to same used cat on each vehicle, best thing about the Mugen Si system still keep cat vs. Civic R going with header only

im well aware that "Mugen Si" parts are not the same as "Mugen" parts. If you do some browsing, there are PLENTY of people on here aquiring the "mugen Si" parts. im just like everyone else.

And AHM is not requiring that they are only to be ordered for "warranty replacement". Only thing required is that its a Mugen VIN.

anyhow... ill be coming out with my write up of the mugen Si exhaust vs stock Si exhaust very soon. pictures/sound clips/measurements

Mugen VIN and Mugen owner, I do about the same work as you, I believe, but we still have our Mugen, I have silencer but no B pipe Honda yanked it back...does this make sense, w/o saying more?

I need the Mugen Si B pipe somehow, and owners are not plentiful in this area.

I enjoy what you've done with your Si.

and since we sort of on a list now can not even order the short shifter, may have to buy our own Mugen, then part it out....

I can get them at my dealership and I don't have a mugen. Perks of working there I guess. Don't know if I'll ever use it though.

yeah i know, but they watch just try but if you have a VIN and owner name that does not want the Mugen Si accessories like the quick shifter, brakes, ss brake lines, etc on that VIN, can sub in, but other items like the Mugen exhaust is not an accessory but a replacement thus if Honda sends "that replacement out" they want that "replaced item" rnt'd as in defective/warranty replacement, quite sticky on that, with repeat'd calls to dlrshp until they have it back...have the Honda bulletins describing process...wish Honda would just open these up as they could make $ if they just sold OTC
