Proof of Hp gain (Dyno) (SRI vs CAI)

I will try and make this brief. I had a Ingen CAI on my car for awhile. Then I saw all the hype about the X intake and it made me wonder if I could get better gains from this intake. So I sold my Ingen and I made my own custom SRI with the maf mod and have been driving the car with this intake for about a month now. I thought the car felt better and had better throttle response and was happy. So I went and had the car dynoed because I was wondering what kind of HP I had. So then I had a friend give me his AEM CAI and I decided to put it on and could instantly tell the gain in midrange power so now I wanted to take it back to the dyno and see what I gained. Here are the results. As you can see I picked up 15 hp and tq at the wheels in the midrange. Sorry I did not get a A/F reading with the CAI dyno pulls. My mods consist of custom race header, magnaflow exhaust, Hondata reflash, and the CAI.

Wah? You sold the Injen CAI (which probably makes more power than any other intake) to build your own intake (which if not sanded down properly will probably make only as much power as a stock housing)? Why didn't you just keep the Injen CAI in the first place?

The CAI pull was overlaid to the previous pull I made with the SRI. As he said. Green - SRI
Blue - CAI

Green = homemade Sri.

As stated above, if not made properly it will suck. I'm not sayin your homemade intake sucks but let's just say a homemade Sri will be suspect to more scrutiny/doubt than one such as X's.

So the AEM made 15 hp over the homemade Sri? Could say a lot about the Sri.

I feel what your saying but I thought the gains were pretty impressive just from an intake. I am still breaking 200 hp so both intakes do pretty well. The peak power remains about the same. I new CAI made more midrange. I just posted to show the difference.

Can you take a pic of the vanes on your DIY intake? Dynos are kinda irrelevant without that.

Also, the biggest benefit of the x-intake design is to richen up the AFR, so AFR on CAI would have been good.

I know it's a stupid question to ask, but you used the same air filter (just different piping) on each of these runs, right?

If you followed the x-intake threads at all you know he put a lot of time & effort int R&D. Hence the reason he got so much support & so many orderes he couldn't fulfill them all (I am in no way defending the situation as it is now). Yes his intake was home-made, no i don't think that if xceller8n started slanging his home-made intakes over 8th he'd get the same response x's did.

There's not even a before & after dyno w/the homemade intake. (not that dyno's >all).

Like I said, not disrespecting your intake xceller8n, just not enough information to make a judgement imho.
