If i get a CAI for my Auto EX will it sound shitty without a good exhaust? Cuz i heard if you get a CAI you should get an exhasut to compliment it. But an exhaust on a Auto would sound like shit? So is it even worth doing?

Depends on your definition of shitty...

I've got a manual R18A1 with just a CAI. I thought it sounded ricey when I first got it on but now I just love the sound. It gives it a low growl 3000 RPMs +.

An exhaust would be better to add with an intake but isn't necessary.

I re-oiled my filter about a month ago, and yes I had to remove the bumper...it's the easiest way.

I was wondering about that...with any CAI I see that as a problem. I know it's easy to get the bumper on and off but those press tabs are only going to stand so much removing before they snap...break...or don't hold anymore. Then I gotta go buy the push tabs, etc... Not to mention the BS of having to remove the bumper just to clean/oil or change the air filter. Wondering if it's really worth it. Anyone wanna chime in?

Re-oil this filter every 25,000 miles, compared to a stock paper filter which you are replacing or cleaning constantly (every oil change or so). Also, once I cleaned my filter (and I don't live in a dusty/dirty town) I noticed the mpg's and power go up again.

How much do you think it would cost for just the labor to install a Cold Air Intake. How hard is it to install a CAI with noobie knowlege of a car. How long would it take a noob to install it. What are the risks of improper installation?

Could someone PLEASE scan the whole manual for installing the Fujita CAi for me PLEASE?

I am looking at the following CAI from ebay just to save a few hundre bucks:

eBay Motors: 06 07 08 HONDA CIVIC DX/LX/EX 1.8L RED COLD AIR INTAKE (item 200188710126 end time Jan-06-08 16:04:53 PST)

What Do you guys think?

Took me several hours...a pro could do it in 1-2 hours...a noob (like myself) did it in about 4-5...but it was a very learning experience

I heard in order to have a legal CAI it has to be able to pass the Smog Checks. I also heard that the CAI also has to have th C.A.R.B sticker to have it verified as a aftermarket product that doesn't contribute to cause more smog. If I bought a generic CAI on ebay and it doesn't have the C.A.R.B sticker on it... can i just go and get a smog check to see if it passes and maybe get a sticker from them?

Do you guys have the C.A.R.B stickers on your CAI? Anyone gone thru a smog check with their CAI yet?

I think this intake is CARB exempt....I'm not sure though. If you buy an ebay intake (bad idea) then to find out if you'll pass smog checks in the future, install your new intake and go to a smog check station. But you've got it right so far.

Exclamation

first of all do not EVER get an ebay intake. the MAF housing is wrong and screws up the fuel/air ratio, on mine causing bad idle (before i modified it as much as i could it would sometimes almost stall out when i put the clutch in cuz rpms would drop to like 300 for a sec before bouncing back up) and now with the idle problem fixed, which took many hours of reshaping and testing, my car is still slower than stock with the acceleration in some rpm ranges cuz the fuel/air ration is so F'd up. just save up an extra $100 and get a fujita or aem or injen that actually works well. DO NOT GET AN EBAY OR GENERIC INTAKE!!! second autoanything has fixed the price on the injen CAI, bumping it up to just under $300

after reading this whole thread im just making sure that injen does make an intake for an automatic lx 07 civic? cause ive been confused which companies (aem, fujita, injen) do indeed have intakes for the automatics =D lol

and is it a problem if the filter gets wet? that may affect the decision to go SRI or CAI lol

and uhh if an intake is installed is there nething that need to be done to liek the ecu or nething else in the engine/car??

thanks in advance.. i just wanted to clarify things before i really decide to get an intake
