want my exhaust to be quieter

I got vibrant cat back exhaust for a week ago and I felt so loud may be because I got vibrant race header w/o cat too. Since I posted a thread to ask for help here and I got suggestions that I should get a resonator for my exhaust. Finally, I did it in a performance shop for $19x and the voice did really go down. However, I still feel too loud for me when I was cruising on highway for 75-80. Eventually, I made up my mind if I should get a high-flow cat or I should put back my stock exhaust and sell my vibrant exhaust. It has been headache since it got installed... please give me some suggestions to solve it

You could try a second resonator.. I think bill was thinking about doing that. Otherwise, stock, Evo2 or tanabe.

From what I've heard, a HFC will reduce sound levels too. I'm going to get the HFC for mine.

i highly highly doubt a HFC will reduce noise...get a second vibrant resonator welded.

edit i read you have the header without cat...the HFC may reduce a bit. but probably not to noticeable. since you already have a resonator (which may not be good enough) i would go back to stock or sell the header and go stock header...and exhaust/header combo will always sound SIMILAR but not exactly the same with our cars. so if you dont like it then go back to stock or stick with one or the other.

I think this is actually the most quiet I've heard. Don't know why I forgot it.

if someone want to trade it, i would be happy to do it. actually, i got vibrant resonator and i think it did reduce some noice. according to high rpm on highway, it's still too loud for me. i would really want a silencer, but i don't see any of them released... feeling depressed with the exhaust

Well a catless racing header makes things loud, regardless of what exhaust you use. A high-flow cat does muffle the sound a bit.

Yup, I have one for sale too:

It sounded almost like stock with my DCRH.

I addressed this very issue in my thread about my Vibrant race header install. Since I had a Vibrant cat-back and I had listened to SCTuned videos of a Vibrant RH w/hfc and Vibrant cat-back [which was way too loud for me], I added an 18" Vibrant resonator. Toned things down a lot.

Don't get me wrong. The car is still loud in VTEC, but is actually quite nice at idle and when driven gently and calmly. It isn't much different from stock when driven as such.

Here's the thread with pics, videos and my write up: Mother of all Vibrant race header installs

I listened to you and I added 18" resonator already. But it's still too loud for me on highway... thinking about hfc or getting back stock exhaust

Yeah, I understand. I have the Vibrant RH w/hfc, which does effect sound levels. A straight header has no sound deadening and actually amplifies sound. Wish I could help more.

Where did you get the work done? I had a High Flow cat with my vibrant and BCRH and it wasnt that much louder then without it. I have it though in case i run into cop problems or anything. WS2 is deffinantly a good choice if you want wuiet. We have it on the other civic.

if i can sell mine, i would definately want to have WS2. Also, I have the 18" resonator weld on it, but I would say that its sound level is pretty good on local, but not on a road trip.

In conclusion, does the hfc really help on sound level?? I was satisfied with my stock exhaust with vibrant race header no matter on highway or local. Now, I'm thinking a way to eliminate my headache... should I spend money on high flow cat or get back to stock although I have spent money on resonator and don't know if I can sell my vibrant cat back exhaust.

The cheapest way would obviously be to just use the stock exhaust. Since many aftermarket systems use 2.25 inch piping, I doubt you will see any performance gain from getting one. The stock Si cat-back is actually pretty well made. It is light and it does a great job of dampening sound levels. This sounds like your best bet.

How about the GReedy SP2? "offers some quietest exhaust note of any high performance systems on the market today."

comparison to WS2?

any experience with teh SP2?

there are only 3 threads pertaining to the SP2 - couldnt fine much info.
