are you using the right torque? try some wd40 to help a little,or if its harder to take off, take it to a professional

Did you release the belt tensioner? After i moved belt tensioner, belt slides off right away.

Just try to remove the belt first.
As he siad " first you have to locate the tensioner, its the big silver part you can see in front of the pulley. Just get a wrench, put it on silver tensioner, and push the wrench down ( i think its a right direction). It will make it much easier to remove the belt. hope it helps

lol i've been trying to do that for the past hour =[ this sucks

and those three bolts, i can only can one of them back in.... which is the long front bolt for the alt. the other long bolt won't even go all the way in. The bolt for the tensioner can't even screw in either. its so ridiculous...blah i'll be back in a few.

Move the auto-tensioner (A) using the belt tension release tool to relieve tension from the belt, then remove the drive belt

Hope it helps.

For the belt tension release tool, i just used a regular wrench. Hopefully one of the R18 guys can let you know exact size of the attachment they used.

Wow, you're going through everything I did using the exact same DIY.

Go to Sear's and purchase a Serpentine Belt Tool made by Gearwrench. Don't bother renting one from Autozone, I broke two of those. The one I got from Sears was the best I've used with the best angle to get to ours.

Now when you try to release the tension remember two things. One.) Push towards the car. Two.) Push slowly! I mean barely put pressure on it. BARELY. It might feel like you aren't getting anywhere but eventually it will slowly release. I tried shoving and slamming it and got no where and might have damaged the auto-tensioner. So be nice and slow with it.

I also had alignment issues with the alternator trying to do it that way also. I believe I bent a piece or bracket doing it and had to bend it back. Wasn't a big deal but caused a long delay.

hah yah i was about to PM you b/c i was reading the other threads trying to figure this out.

DO you think you could give me a list of what you used, like what to use to take off the alt. pulley b/c i have no attachments that'll fit for that and what else did you use for the water pump and crank (i already saw what happened with yours but i'm going to try my impact tool first)

Lol and one more thing!! Did you remove the alternator at all to install the pulleys? b/c i figured if i remove the alt. pulley then i could remove the stock WPpulley and then put the NST one in and then the alt.

I can't remember exactly what I used since it's been a while, but what I remember is:

-10( or maybe 8) mm open end wrench - Used to take off the bolts on the water pump.
-10( or maybe 8) mm socket and ratchet - Used to take off alternator (I think).
-Serpentine Belt Tool
-Electric impact wrench from Wal-Mart w/ sockets included - Used to take off pulley on alternator

And that's about all I can remember.

The crank I ended up having the shop do, but I attempted to do it myself but I can't remember what socket fit on the bolt. Wasn't big at all.

But yeah, you will have to remove the alternator to put on the pulley for it. I mean I guess you could try doing it without taking off the alternator but that would make it extremely difficult. And yes, you would have A LOT easier access to the WP pulley with it removed.

Good luck dude, taking the pulley's off on the WP and Alt. is the easy part.

Not positive cause I have the k20, but I had to put my belt back on to losen the crank bolt and I had to heat it and hit it with a 4 ft breaker bar to get it to crack free. I had to replace my crank seal in the process. If you use the old belt for grip you can put the ALT in a vise( pully in belt, in vise) hit it with air come's right off. Crank was a bitch!!!!! As for tools go to an autozone if you have one and get the rental serp belt tool, then just return it, like under $30 beans. For my crank bolt I had to have someone hold the brake in with the car in gear, heat the hell out of it and use a breaker bar air wouldn't budge it. GOOD LUCK.

Lol thanks! and the bolts on the alt are 12mm, but thanks now i will be making a trip to sears and walmart very soon!!

Oh yah when you removed the alternator, after you removed the belt and those three bolts, will it just pop out easily? or am i going to have trouble?

Sorry for all the questions i'm really trying to do this the easiest way possible epsecially after today....spent like 10min taking the bolts off and trying to loosen the tensioner and after i realized i couldn't do it it took me about 2 hours just trying to get the alt. realigned so i could put the bolts back in.

don't waste money on a tool. I believe a 3/4" wrench will fit on the tensioner. You really have to pull hard on that thing though. Its hydraulic so you just have to keep putting pressure on, then it will get to a point where you can pull that belt off. That diy is horrible. Really bad english and half of it does not even make sense.
