Reflashing with just CAI

I just put a Cold Air Intake on my otherwise stock Sedan SI. I like the sound and wanted to avoid getting any type of aftermarket exhaust (unless it sounds stock). I was also trying to avoid racing headers because when I have to get the car smogged in a few years it will just be a pain in the ass. Having said all that, I've read alot of threads about reflashing the ECU through hondata. I know they said AT LEAST headers or intake or it will be a loss in performance but I was just wondering if anyone has tried the reflash with only the intake done. I want a little pep but don't plan on street racing or anything. Will I notice a difference with only the intake done?

Welcome to 8th Civic. As far as your question....the reflash is around 600 bucks. There are a lot of other options you can go with. Pulleys,TBS,IMG, Cams, ect. If you don't want to modify the exhaust and open up both ends I would suggest spending money on a different mod. I wouldn't want to risk losing power. Thats just my .02 cents

The Hondata Reflash will work fine with an intake being the only other mod, as Hondata points out on their site. With the reflash the car will be alot more fun just from the driveability improvement. The vast majority of owners on this forum that have had the reflash performed have been very happy with the results.

Ya I read the other thread but was hoping to find someone that tried it with ONLY intake on the car. My only concern with getting the Headers first too is that I wont be able to get the air out of the car without an aftermarket exhaust (which I cant stand).

I only have an Injen CAI on my car with the Reflash...I've found no issue. Granted, I've had this done for close to a year now, so I don't even remember how this car feels stock. I can say that from the first time I took off with the reflash and CAI installed, I was immediately like "this was worth every penny." I'm not sure I've gained as much in the midrange as I would've like, but such is the nature of the K20. Overall, I'm very glad I've had it done. I've wasted countless Scion tC's and V6 Mustangs

I have reflash and just intake. Car feels nice, the power does come on sooner, however, I would venture to say that the car "feels" slower due to the more linear power band.

I autocross as much as possible (2-3 times a month) and the added umph in the mids has been very helpful.

I have just dynoed my car and I am showing pretty close to stock numbers. I am however running pretty rich in the midrange, so there is a good bit of power to be made.

I honestly think that header is best pairing for the flash if you are going to do just one mod. I'll be going full I/H/E/reflash sometime soon.

i would have to agree it counts on the driver, i have a stock 06 coupe and iv taken other SI coupes, a turbo TC and stay side by side with a Evo, and taken a turbo prelude so i think taking a TC or a Mustang isnt a surprise.

I only have the intake and exhaust and the reflash really made the car about 50% more fun. As long as Hondata stands by their own statement that the minimum requirement is an intake, you will see nice results, just won't see the results others would with additional mods. Hence, the $600 may seem like a lot for the minimum gains you'll receive. Something to think about because as others have pointed out, you can get about two or three others mods which will improve your power gains, but none will be as fun. Good luck deciding...it's never easy.

Are you serious?? Perhaps your sarcasm has rubbed me the wrong way...because if you're in a Si, and you can't take a tC or a bloated 200HP Mustang, then something is definitely wrong....either that, or you can't drive. Sheesh, my Prelude could handle both of these cars!

Don't misconstrue that I said "this is the fastest car ever," because I didn't. What I did say was "I've wasted/whipped/beaten/taken/had my way with countless tC's and Mustangs. Surely your objection is with the Mustang....so, allow me to clarify: I've wasted countless tC's and 6-cylinder Mustangs Which, BTW, is 100% factual....and that was with my G/F in the car and some jackass racing me over and over again. Mods, please excuse if this is an inappropriate post.
