I must have the worst luck.....

Alright.....so its been about over a month now with my new install of the BCRH and SKUNK2 70mm exhaust with the weapon type r defouler.

I keep throwing a CEL code of 2271 (02 sensor stuck on rich) every 15 miles.

I have noticed my gas mileage go down alittle so i finally decided to bring it into a local shop to have them check it out.

After they scan everything they tell me that the o2 sensors are working properly and that the computer was saying that my car was reading running lean and running rich continuously. They said that they dont know how to fix the problem other than maybe contacting HOnda or a speed shop to see if they can reprogram my computer in the car to solve the problem. They also said that having the computer reprogrammed wouldnt void my warranty.

I havent contacted honda yet but has anyone here ever here of this?

The local shop said that since my car was leaning more on the rich side that it wouldnt hurt my car other than using more gas than usual and maybe changing the spark plugs more often than usual.

Im not sure if I should just find someone to program my computer or just say screw it all and sell my BCRH and exhaust and go back to stock.

If anyone has any input on what u think i should do please let me know.

By the way...... i bought a new digital cam today and took some pics of my bros car and mine.............

Check for poor connection/ loose /brocken terminal at the secondary o2 sensor.. if al this are ok then you might need a new o2 sensor......

I think my car is doing the same thing. On another note, I used to have those same wheels on my car.

no the GG si is mine and is in FL........

I will check the sensor out this weekend and see if I see anything wrong....I dont know much about 02 sensors tho but i will try.

Do you guys think that this is just a freak thing with my car? Or do you think that it has to do something with the secondary 02 sensor?

I second what Rene said. I was at the install for a friend of mine here on the forum to help out. My friend got a Vibrant RH and bought an ebay defouler. His setup was an exact copy of mine.

When the installer started up the car, it immediately threw a CEL. The scanguage had an error code [sorry, forgot the number]. I told the installer that I had just read on the forum about someone who had gotten a CEL because one of the connectors to the O2 sensor was not clicked in all the way.

The installer tried it and it worked. No more CEL. My friend has never gotten another CEL either. The other thing as Rene mentioned might possibly be a damaged O2 sensor.

I would recheck the connector to make sure they are snug. If that doesn't work, get a new secondary O2 sensor. Don't give up on the BuddyClub just yet.

No. Right now, I just ignore it. I'm running a race header but I've had issues with this car running rich or lean ever since I put the exhaust on back in May '06. In th beginning, the CELS were random and rare. Luckily I worked for Acura so it was free at lunch to get it checked. Now I have a race header and I get them. Usually they're for the lack of a cat but there was a rich one in there. Now i'm just too cheap to take it to honda.

one plugs in right before the Cat, the other right in the cat. Unless you're running an RH then it's before the test pipe and near the rear flange.

ok so u can just pull the sensor right out?

And the secondary sensor would be the one hooked into the defouler which is hooked into flange before the testpipe?

I believe so yes and yes. I haven't tried myself yet.

the only thing I've had done is a reflash and about 10,000 resets since I had that done for adding new stuff, removing stuff and resetting CELs.

LOL.........maybe im just alittle paranoid........but i need to have this little problem fixed as 93 octane here is 4 bucks a gallon and my gas mileage isnt that great right now.

What even more funny is that i called the honda dealership earlier today and they said to replace a 02 sensor with the install cost would be around 350 to 400 bucks.

I can believe it. Honda's prices for anything are stratospheric. They want $80 just to check a CEL and diagnose it.

yea they told me that since i had installed a RH the diagnostic wouldnt be under the warranty. That is some picky stuff as they might have made money if I had chose to go to them to fix the problem........also as much as i had paid for my car back in 06 from this dealership u would think they would care......LOL to funny

Can also try and fool the ECU, disconect the neg bat cable for 30 seconds and try again, It will run like crapp untill the Ecu picks up the sensor, about a mile or 2 of driving. If that doesn't work the defouler may be bad, I had to do this even goin back to my stock header, and even then it ran bad for a good 15 min's. Honda SUCKS when it come's to mods they don't wanna help at all, find your local Acura dealer they are normally more helpfull and know more about the k20. My H dealer couldn't even get me a diagram of the serp belt when I did my UD pullys but Acura could and for free, not that a photo copy should'nt be free but you i'm sure know car dealer's.
