interested to see what the AFR's will be like, especially with the whole X and the needing to keep the vanes but modifying them fiasco.

does the top cf cover on the airbox clamp down to the stock one? If so, isn't it basically just the lower intake section we would be paying for with a modified top box and strange location for the MAF?

That is what I think they are doing. I mainly want to see the AFRs due to the placement of the MAF since it looks like it does not have the vanes. Looks like they made a bracket and just placed it on the top of the new box.

If its around $500-$600 it will be in the price territory of the Mugen intake but this has the MAF in place whereas the Mugen (so far) has no MAF.

so what? keep the stock airbox, try and only buy the lower bit, connect it to the stock lower airbox.. problem solved, CAI that works.

from what i can see , the top box is for show, and it looks ghetto with the MAF like that.

The OE box is no where as smooth on the inside compare to this, which hurts flow. It is the nature of injection/blow molded parts (i have to check).

There is a lot more than just fitting a shiny cylindrical pipe with a filter like many after market intake. Though it is hard to give a definite answer, the T1R's intake, like M&Ms and the Mugen RR appears to be purposeful for real life situation gains (ex. part throttle response). (I had to deal with air management system, mainly OE intake for 2 coop terms in case you question :) ).

I appreciate what you're saying, but if they are using the stock lower box, then the moldings in there are going to mess up the air flow too, or am i wrong? Unless its a full smooth system, there are going to be downfalls from the lower stock portion of the airbox

I'm no expert, but looks like they modded like anyone can, just made it flashy with CF.

Yeah, I'm kinda worried about the bottom end of the airbox on the intake, but dynos talk. So we will see how it all pans out.

It is hard to understand and appreciate the quantity of some of the original parts. As it maybe redundant to say, an engine breath range is not only for high rpm (as most people look for when buying an aftermarket intake), yet they lose the other end of the spectrum with their simple design pipes. The T1R intake appears to have designed and thought of the ranges of the spectrum.

I honestly can't say much how good or bad as I have not seen their engineering or math data/cad analysis. I hope AJR can chime in on the engineering part of their research.

Visually, the design of this product would make the OE makers approve it (not because of the nice looking CF). Just a note, IMO, OE box is not limited/just for for cost effective/liability/noise suppression reasons.

I'm just excited to see a product like this.

i agree completely with this statement

However overall i am concerned about the placement of the MAF sensor due to the problems that was happening before with other intake systems. I hope this isnt all that expensive cause it really isnt much but a highflow filter and a scoop for the air in the front bumper

FWIW, carbon fiber isn't just for show.. it will stay a lot cooler than a plastic piece would. But this still begs the question of why the lower box is used with this setup. Almost makes the use of the CF pointless.

Thanks for the compliment first of all, sorry it does not only come in plastic, it only comes in CF.
