MSD DashHawk V2.4 Released

Just wanted to let you guys know about an awesome product that I think is underrated and doesn't get enough coverage here. It's called the MSD DashHawk and it works with all 2006+ Civics. It's a full featured "Dash Gauge / Dyno" product, and it's not too expensive ($300), so it's a really great value in my opinion. It has many more features the ScanGauge II and plugs right into your diagnostics port, so installation is a breeze. Even comes with some handy industrial-strength adhesive/Velcro so you can mount it anywhere. Here is a short list of some of its capabilities:

* Updatable firmware (BIG plus, new features are added constantly).
* Data Logging w/ great graphing software.
* More variables and display modes than other Dash Gauges.
* Some unique variables like AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) and Instant Horsepower.
* Background can be set to one of millions of different colors to match any Si or non-Si color scheme.
* Accurate 0-60 and 1/4 times (better than accelerometer like the G-Tech).
* Average and Instant MPG.

Here's a link to our page to find out more information or buy the product: Honda Civic MSD DashHawk at PRO Civic.com. Note that we sell the product at the lowest price the manufacturer will allow, and also offer free shipping on it =)

Other helpful info you may need when setting your DashHawk up:

2006 Civic's drag coefficient: .31
2006 Civic's Frontal area: We measured to be about 23 square feet.

Your weight will depend on what trim level and options you have. You need to add the weight of anything else in the car (including you) to arrive at the correct total weight value.

We got about 194 whp with a 2007 Si. AFR went down to around 12.2. Mods at the time of the test were Injen CAI, Hondata, and EVO2 exhaust.

Lastly, here's some pictures showing the installed product and the software:

How accurate is the AFR compared to the aem uego or similar. Does it need a wideband o2 sensor separately or is the primary on the civic a wideband?

thanks

MSD makes great stuff. I have used the MSD 6AL capacitative discharge on other cars and have always been impressed with the quality and performance. This Dashhawk looks fantastic with all the parameters it can measure. I was going to get a Scangauge II, but this looks more interesting.

The stock wideband seems to be very accurate, so nothing else is needed.

Yeah, it works with most 2006 and newer vehicles, so you just take it out before you sell you car and move it to your next one!

Were the graphs taken from your SI? After i looked on the graph...AFR seems to be around 15, is it normal? After i dynoed my car last weekend i want to buy something that accuratly reads AFR. What would you recommend guys?

Hmmmm....I e-mailed them a few months back with some questions and was told most of the features don't work with with our cars, namely the trip features. Are you able to use every one of the listed features? I thought I had found a gold mine (I LOVE the display, though it does take up more space) when I discovered the DashHawk.

I might have to get one of these as well. ScanGuageII is nice and all... but the data logging is where its at.

The average MPG works, which is the main one. There are so many features on the DashHawk and probably some don't work on our vehicles, but it just hides what you can't use. I think there are some specific Ford/GM features that we can't use though.

The graphs were from an Si with those listed modifications (injen CAI, greddy evo2, and hondata). AFR is around 14.7 when your ECU is in closed loop, which is generally below 4K RPMs when you're not going full throttle. The AFR will drop to the low 12s during full throttle pulls at higher RPMs.

The device itself will not make your car faster. But it is great to see your fuel economy, horsepower, Air/Fuel ratio, Air Intake Temp etc. to make sure all your modifications are working correctly on your car.
