K&N v2 w/P2R TBS

So I went ahead and installed the K&N v2 intake on my car (thanks to Excelerate for the intake!). I also have the P2R TBS. I was skeptical at first about fitment, but just decided to go ahead with the install. Everything fit ok except for the mounting bracket (see pic below). I also had to stretch the stock air tube to the heat shield to make it fit. Only thing that I'm afraid of is that it could snap off (see pic below). So far, it hasn't. But I've only driven it a couple of miles. I'll be doing regular check ups to see if it does. Installation was pretty easy except for the edge trim. That took the most time for me. I ended up measuring the edges of the heat shield and cutting out the pieces to make them fit. Onto the pictures...

here's the mounting bracket

here's where the heat shield connects to the stock air tube

here's where the stock air tube could snap off

and the finished product

All in all, the sound is great! I literally scared myself when i hit . I could feel better throttle response. There was no heat soak because it's like 30+ degrees outside. I will be doing more driving tomorrow afternoon when the weather is a little warmer. I did notice a bad rev hang going from 2nd to 3rd, but only once. I thought the stock air tube had snapped off, but it didn't.

Hope these pictures help with the people that have been wondering if this intake fits with the P2R TBS!

Wouldn't a hose clamp solve the potential "snapping off" problem?

I had a heck of a time removing that tube from the factory air box so I would think it should stay put on the other end. Probably after some more time and the engine heating and cooling the thing should become more naturally relaxed in that position. I would be more concerned about the mounting bracket not being attached. Have you considered removing a lenght of the tube equal to the TB spacer you have installed? Or even better, can you access the materials to make another bracket with a longer leg after the bend?

well, the tube actually snapped off a couple of times when i was trying to stretch it towards the heat shield. it comes off a lot easier than the part that connects to the lower air box. as for the fitment, i was gonna try to make an extension of some sort. it would connect to the end of the bracket and extend to the mounting point. if that doesn't work, then my 2nd choice was to make a new bracket. i really don't want to cut anything off of the intake tube itself. thanks for the ideas!

so does the intake touch the radiator hose? If so does it push it any or just rest on it?

I heard you're suppose to let your car idle for about 15 minutes after installing the TBS, since your ECU will have to relearn a few things.

Bee, great to see you get the K&N to go with your Vibrant race header. You should have a really nice package. Hopefully I will get to see it in May at the meet.

Should be done by then if everything goes right. I should get my modded MAF housing by this weekend. If I weren't trying out what I have been planning, I would defintely go with the K&N as it seems to be fairly well engineered and the sound is delicious in VTEC. Your car should be a beast.

Wish we could meet up prior to the meet. I would love to hear your car with the intake and Vibrant header.

I will be installing this same setup this weekend. I have a AEM intake but it looks like you use some of the old intake parts with the K&N.

I'll take pics too. I hope this works. How long did it take. I will also install the TBS and TBG...

K&N provides everything you need for the install. the only thing that i reused was the nut to hold down the mounting bracket. as for the install, took about 1 hour for the install itself. i took more time cutting up the edge trim to try to make it fit and look nice. the tbs took bout 45min - 1 hour.
