Vibrant Header w/HFC Dyno on Stock Car

So I went to Full Blown Motorsports (recommended by NitrousG35) and got my Vibrant header w/HFC installed. My car is stock. I did a before and after dyno. I pulled 180.2 on my base dyno and got 187.0 after the header was installed. I don't exactly how much torque though. I was lucky to have NitrousG35 and VQpower there because I threw a CEL right after they installed the header. I had the ebay defouler. Nitrous told the mechanic to unplug it and plug it in again and VIOLA!!! no CEL. I also got a ride in Nitrous' car and all I can say is WOW! That really pulls. I also got a sneak peek at his cowl induction setup. Looks to be very promising. Thanks again Nitrous and VQ! All in all, I'm satisfied!

Bee, it was great to meet you and your brother. You two guys are fantastic. It was fun to see your car on the dyno. Makes me want to do it now too.

At first, I had the oh-noes when I saw the CEL even though you had a defouler. I am so glad that I had just read that another person had had the same problem and the cause was the O2 sensor connectors. I breathed a collective sigh of relief with you when it was exorcised from your car.

On the way home, how did it perform? I was hoping we could have stayed together, but that traffic was so bad due to an accident. I look forward to seeing you at meets we have in Minnesota.

All in all, you have a sweet setup. Nice power gain, nice quiet exhaust, enough to make any woman riding along happy. Thanks for the invite to see your dyno runs.

i have the k&n in the mail and i'm really leaning towards nitrous' cat-back setup. sounds good at wot and just like stock at idle.

I think that with a cat-back and the K&N intake, you should really see some good gains. The header seems to work best with a 2.5" cat-back. I am really happy for you. It's great to see a mod like this done on our cars.

Believe me, you will be very happy with the results. Just make sure to get a defouler to cover any change of a CEL rearing its ugly head. I am running an extra resonator in addition to the one that Vibrant uses on its cat-back.

Race headers coupled with larger diameter cat-backs can be quite loud, so I would seriously look into the Vibrant 18" resonator.

FG2MN's car looked so tight on the rack with the header and sound so nasty on the dyno. It really wakes up the motor.

Good idea wanting to run the Vibrant parts together (header/catback). I am still sure this is the optimum setup for those who chose to buy either part first.

i guess hearing everyone talk about defoulers so much i may have to go ahead and get one to be safe. does it matter what kinda or anything? and did you, FG2MN, or anyone else here have any issues with installation? i saw a few posts with people having slight issues here and there.

Funny you should mention that. We were sharing that with the installer who also did my car. Andrew, the installer, said some guys take the wiper cowl off thinking they can access the bolts when they really can't. He laughed when I told him some guys dropped the subframe.

This is a very straightforward install. FG2MN's car was done in short order as was mine. I am beginning to think the problem is more installer related than anything else.

niiice. your guys' experience with this has been helpful. i was starting to get a little concerned with what people were writing about such as encountering obstacles on their installs lol. i'm pretty much sold on gettin this setup. looking forward to sharing my experience with vibrant soon

...

do the install when your car is pretty new, I still had dealer plates and did cat back, shifter, bushings, stiffy, and then the header. The header was actually pretty easy with a buddy helping the only scare I had was my exhaust bumping the chassy as the kind of catback I have has less bends then others like the vibrant.

that one bend the vibrant has after the cat is key unless you dont mind having the hangar bent which is what I had to do.

hey nitrous you think it would be possible to order that one peice of pipe from vibrant for the cat back? Just a thought I had, it might allow me to tuck up my exhaust very tightly like it was before the header, the extra bend might not hurt flow too much I hope.

Sorry bro. I have their catalog and I don't see the midpipe section available independent of the rest of the system.

Do you have the stock Si cat-back? I believe the stock system is the limiting factor in getting more power from the header.

In my case, I went with the Vibrant cat-back first, which is 2.5", then I went with the Vibrant race header afterwards. The performance difference was quite dramatic for me at least. I gave FG2MN a ride in it and I believe he will attest to that as well.

Is necessary a angled defouler or may I use a normal one?

Thanks
