4500 Vtec !!!

I just got my Hondata reflash and I have to say it is the best mod I have so far. Absolutely incredible how a little play with the ECU can increase the fun factor of a car so much.

I dropped my car's computer in the mail on Monday and I've been driving my wife's mini van since (gag me with a captain's seat). My wife called me this morning and said that the ECU was back so I ran home on my lunch break and popped it back in. Coming back to work was the best commute I've had since I bought the car.

Anyone who is on the fence about this mod I have one thing to say: come over to the dark side!

^^ Word to that. From the factory, VTEC should be like that. It annoys me that it's only in the last 2k RPMs, I hate having to wind up the car every single time I need some passing power.

Sounds like a great mod. But I hear it's an automatic warranty void. Oh well, 60k more to go.

Just about to ask that, is the ECU mod that apparent to the dealer?

only if they connect to the OBDII port... then it is blatantly obvious

^^ I seriously doubt a tech would even know you had a reflashed ECU unless testing was done just for that.

I'm convinced the reflash is awesome for performance. But, I wonder how's gas mileage w/the reflash? For those of you with the reflash, what kind of mileage are you getting, and how does that compare to before the reflash?

I'm now on my 2nd tank since reflash/suspension/VRH and the first was only ~20 miles less/tank than before. I also have been VTECing my ass off so I'd say mileage is almost unaffected.

This has been covered before to death on this site. A honda tech answered that it does not show up on their computers, they can't tell. If you blow your engine from over revs, then that's a different story. They can see last 20 miles or so of peak revs BUT if you mis shift even without the reflash, you can go above the 8200 rev limiter so it's really not a big deal unless you're taking your car up to 8600 with the reflash a lot... posting a vid later today with my car and the reflash done to it...
