Anyone consider race header + stock catback?
I've had the RH and aftermarket catback on my RSX, and it was just too loud, too raspy/ricey sounding, and it just got old real fast. I was set on doing just a nice catback (Comptech) for the Si and not messing with the header and cat. However, with the recent introduction of the Hondata flash, I am considering the RH again. But I don't want to sound the way my RSX did.
After looking at Hondata flash page for the Si again, I noticed something, and decided to ask Hondata on their forum... check it out: http://www.hondata.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4870 You'll see that they actually ran the RH w/ the stock catback. I know more than a handful of people that did this on ClubRSX as well to gain the benefits of the RH but without making it too loud, or losing the stock look. Any other thoughts or opinions on it? I mean, you can see on the Hondata's dyno graph the amazing gains with the RH even with the stock exhaust, so it can't be too bad in a performance aspect, and I'm willing to bet it's not too loud either with the stock piping and muffler. I'm strongly considering it. |

that is exactly what i am doing....DC RH with stock cat-back. You see minimal gains with a cat-back since hondas exhausts are already free flowing. I want the outside of my Si to apear completely stock and when i'm not flogging it....i want it to sound stock too.

200/150, the first run was just a first run, not warmed up, and this is with a magnaflow high flow cat in place of the test pipe portion. |

I have:
Injen CAI SSR Header with $80 Magnaflow high flow cat welded in place of test pipe Hondata reflash, doesn't do anything for total hp but gives me a midrange. Hondata IMG, and P2R TBG with TB bypass, not sure that they do anything. My Comptech exhaust should be in on Tuesday, I will be heading back out to SSR and do a re-run as my car is, and then do a quick swap to the comptech exhaust and see exactly how much more I make with it. I definitely think that exhaust on the si is already really good stock, just a little quiet. |

Stupid question:
Are all race headers "designed" for the FGs only? Will adding one to the Si sedan require a 2" addition, or is that extra pipe down more toward the exhaust; i.e., is this a simple bolt-on (well, after lifting the thing, removing cowls, etc.) without welding for the FA5? Thanks. |
