Problem with AEM CAI

I just recently installed an AEM CAI on my 06 civic LX myself. Overall I am pleased but there is one problem I wanted to make you guys aware of. The hose AEM provided for the engine coolant is IMO too big. When you tighten it with the clamps it is not really a good fit and it should have been smaller. I went to Advance Auto and got another hose to fit it. AEM should have known better than this what were they thinking? Also they did a lousy job putting on the AEM sticker, it's all wrinkled up. I will post pics when I get off work later tonight. The tone is very deep above 4K.

You know what??...i noticed the same thing. One of the hoses (the long one in particular) is a bit bigger. The other hose (short one) i think is ok. I was thinking of getting a thinner hose for that long one when i was first installing it. but i wanted to see how (the one it came with) does. May be that's why my car kept giving me a CEL, BUT my CEL is OFF now.

Perhaps you guys should email AEM and make them aware. Perhaps they will rectify this so that it does not turn into a huge issue.

Yeah the main issue is putting the wrong size hose on could possibly cause the hose to either come off or break. To my surprise I never got a CEL.

People had problems with the AEM CAI back in June and they are still having problems with them now .... sooo technically this is still a valid thread.

You should try to adjust it a bit.

imtim25, you said you might have to cut the hose, because it's longer than it should be?

Lo0t, you mentioned that one of the hoses is too big and should be thinner.

So did you guys replace the hose and did the CEL go away?

How do you like the AEM CAI? Is your car running smooth like stock? Do you experience any bogging or hesitation?

I have the aem and my car runs fine... except for the occasional cel light...the code is p0171 reading lean in bank 1 from the O2 sensor...wtf does that mean???? No other problems... great sound and and great power
Im positive the engine light will be off as soon as the weather warms up. I had my intake on for months during the spring and summer and never had a cel until it got cold. hmmmm i wonder if theses ultra low emmision sensors are too sensitive.
