Hondata k-pro update
Well its not a direct source I know. But when I was up at Skunk2's shop on friday, I talked to a guy named Brian. And he was telling me that hondata was finishing up some testing and whatnot on a new programmable ECU for the FG2 and FA5. He said that they are shooting to release it by this summer. He did not have an exact month or date or anything. But he mentioned that the founder and CEO of hondata was at skunk2's shop and thats what he was saying.. How truthful this is? I do not know. I do not know the guys at skunk2 very well so im most certainly not going to doubt them or assume they are talkin BS. So I trust them. But I was told this same thing by another shop in december and they said it would be out by january. So much for that . But point being, is you never know. Esspecially since this information was passed down to me and wasnt given to me directly from that ceo of hondata.
But the reason I posted this up is because im hopeful. I have been waiting for this to come out for a long time. And I know im not the only one. So I thought id share and let others be hopeful too :) I know and understand hondata is trying to get this done and they are having problems with this car. So im not baggin on em by any means. So with that said, I hope to see this out soon ! BTW, he didnt say it would be called kpro or anything. He just said a programmable ecu like kpro. So yea. |

Guys are you forgetting that Hondata has already come on the boards themselves and confirmed that we would have sometyhing this year???? As far as the info coming from Skunk2, i dont personally know them but i do know they are a pretty reputable company. I personally am just going to wait for Hondata to annouce the release date as they have already confirmed it IS coming this year.

![]() ![]() It is their top priority so I'll bet they are busting their balls over this. Afterall engine management on Honda's is their livelihood and seeing as our car's system is the image of things to come I am sure they realize how important it is to crack this thing. Granted it is just that, cracking Honda's ECU which ain't exactly an easy thing to do. If anyone else want to try their hand at it by all means. Last edited by Gonzo; 03-31-2008 at 10:14 AM. |

Unless nobody has read the post on Hydra, their full EMS which is a superior product to the K-Pro(whatever) can be released in 2 months with commitment from the FG2/FA5 owners(they can also do one for the regular civics). All they need is 20 people with a deposit of $150(fully refundable) so they can dedicate 2 months to getting it released. They have the EMS, it works and could be used right now but they only do plug n play, which is another reason why its a better engine management solution(not to mention all the features it has that K-Pro doesn't). The only reason they dont go right out and make it is because the Honda community is so stuck on Hondata they are afraid that they will spend 2 months getting it released and nobody will buy it because they dont know about it or dont know WHY its a better product. That is 2 months they could spend on releasing their unit for the Evo X, Spec-V's, and some others. They already have it released for the 08+ WRX and STI's. Its full drive by wire compatible, you lose the MAF sensor(awesome), and has a ridiculous amount of tuning features. So honestly, other than cost(it will be around $1800 for the first 20), there is no excuse to not modify because of no full EMS.
