Weight Reduction
Exactly how much will shedding some weight do?
is removing your spare worth it? i can feel a difference between a full tank of gas and almost empty, but maybe it's all in my head does the fact that our cars have less torque mean that weight will make more of a difference for us? |

A general rule of thumb is for every 100 lbs you lose you will be 1/10th faster in the 1/4 mile with the same car and power. As cool as this sounds losing 100 lbs isnt as easy as it would seem. Removing the spare, lighter wheels, and removing the back seats would probably do it though.

I always drive with half a tank or less... NEVER Full!!! think about it how heavy is a gallon??? Now imagine 13 gallons... mmmm Well I did my research and ONE GALLON = 8 POUNDS... So 13 gallons=104 pound... So am always riding with 50 pounds or less of fuel...

The spare weighs 45lbs & 1 gallon of petrol weighs 6.1 lbs relatively. The warmer it is the lighter it gets but the colder it gets it increases in desntiy so it will weigh more.
My FA5 is gutted & probably in the near future the carpet will be coming out & maybe both back doorpanels. |

^^^ hahaha yeah i have a dx..lol so its pretty light to begin with (no a/c no sun roof) i removed everything from my trunk and got some fiberglass bucket seat (12 lbs each) compared to the stock 50 lbs, also CF hood/trunk, no big heavy stock cat.. but i had my rear seats out for awhile and to be honest i dont think its worth it the rear seats weight almost nothing (maby 25lbs)...you hear rattles and it was really loud inside the car from the exhaust ....
