Keith, anything that I can do to help you out will be a pleasure. You have been a true friend to me. Both of us had to endure the humiliation of the Turbo Mafia fiasco. Both of us moved on and are learning about what works on the Si and what doesn't. I just wish there was some way for many of us to get together and just hang out.

I am afraid that the Gruppe M cowl is an integral part of the package and I have searched to see if you can buy parts separately, but no dice. No problem though because you can cut the wiper cowl area on your Si and run a duct from there like I am about to do.

But if u have the money to do it and your passion is all there for it then i say why not. I plan on keeping my car for a while and everything i buy for it is something I plan on using until I see something better come out. I have alot of car love and I don't ever once look at what I buy as being a waste of money. Like the soxfan143 said in one of the previous posts... Japan does tend to spend alot more time on designing functional parts for their cars without worrying about cost, this is why I run their parts.. not because its "JDM" .. only because its quality stuff. If u want quality parts u have to pay for it. If u want "ok" parts that just "work" then thats totally up to u. I personally bought this intake because it has alot of function behind it as well as it being a peice of art in my opinion.

My feedback on this intake...

under low speeds at partial throttle u can litterly hear the air pass thru the scoop. alot of a hisssing whistling type sound. (kinda like ITB's)

in a high gear... like maybe 4th gear at 3-4k RPM's and u just give it full throttle, u can hear a huge air build up going through the chamber and it starts giving u that airplane sound before Vtec turns over. I love it

Vtec turn over is absolutely nice. it turns the car into a whole different mode kinda. Maybe its just me and I been driving my car stock for a while with the OEM airbox and just the Spoon throttle body.. but it definitly sounds good now.

In 1st or 2nd gear at about 4500 RPM and just stomp on the gas.. it feels quite a bit more responsive. I mean, over all I say if u love ur car and u have the money to do it.. GO FOR IT! People saying and asking about the 2nd opening in the chamber maybe loosing airflow.. I had my hood popped and i told my friend to blimp the gas while i had my hand by the whole, and i litterly felt it wanna suck my hand haha. So I 99.9% doubt that any airflow will be lost, especially when the car is at wide open throttle I can imagine how much more air gets sucked in there when its at higher RPM, so i completely doubt any air will escape and loose flow especially with the scoop. I also noticed people mentioning that it might block ur view thru the windshield. .. well that is a negative. I basically cant even see it when I'm driving.. but I am not that tall either. just about 5-9"ish

Anyways people... I'm sorry I have not replied to ur million posts. I don't have as much time as alot of u do posting every minute of the day. I will be keeping everyone posted with the new mods that go on the car from Toda Racing. Its been months and months and we finally got the exhaust and header in the states to test on the USDM Si which will be mine. So as soon I get it back from the body shop from the exterior changes, i will be on top of everything.

Current Mods to motor...

Spoon Venturi Throttle Body
Hondata manifold gasket
Gruppe-M intake.

After everything is installed...

Spoon Venturi Throttle Body
Hondata manifold gasket
Gruppe-M intake.
Toda Header
Toda exhaust
Toda A3 Cams
Toda Valve Train
Toda Baffled oil pan
Hondata custom tune from Doug
ORC Super single Clutch/flywheel
Cusco 1.5 way clutch type LSD
CTR 5.06 final drive

Once everything is done.. the car should be pretty fun to drive.

(NitrousG35) thanks for covering my thread for me! U seemed to help alot on the cowl induction info.

(soxfan143) u made my day when i read ur post (#266) about quality japanese parts u are a funny guy.

Nasif
No problem bro. I absolutely believe that. They make much better quality stuff than we do because they want products that last ans perform as well as they can. It's a proven fact. Even their cars are better than the ones we get. This is undeniable proof. I am with you on this bro. If I could afford this intake now I would have already got it. I just have to waut for my "tax relief check"(haha that's so funny)to come then I'm ordering that thing immediately.

man i want this system but making it might look crappy. Is there like bondo or stuff to put on the scoop and near it to give off a decent look? I wouldnt want people who walk by to be like man thats ugly or that it ruins the cars appealing look

It needs to be purchased from a vendor who sells Gruppe M stuff. SCTuned is looking into carrying it. The Gruppe M is for a JDM FD2. However, as the OP did, you can use a sectioned MAF sensor housing from an Si airbox and move the brake reservoir over. Then, you cut the cowl area slightly to accomodate the duct from the top of the airbox and you are in business.

What I find really intriguing is Nasif's comment that the hole on the side had a lot of vacuum/suction. Apparently, Gruppe M feels that there is something to be gained by pulling air in the front and to the hole on the side. That explains why the hole was there. Now if Carlos can get these babies and start selling them, we can get many onboard the cowl induction ship.

Carlos told me he had bought three on his credit card, so I imagine the first three will be what he had to pay for them. He might give a break on shipping, but I don't know. Once he becomes a distributor, I would think the price will come down. Knowing Carlos and SCTuned, they will deliver it at a price that will make people want to buy one.
