Tsx Cams Installed

I got off Ebay from a Honda dealer in California for 600 dollars a set of TSX CAMSHAFTS...

DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR WORTH THE MONEY, I know you might get more from other camshafts, but you need springs, retainers, if you can not do it yourself its double the labor. You dont need to adjust the valve lash if your valves are adjusted already. If you are good, It took me a few times to get the timing cause I used no manual or anything other then reading a DIY, which had poor pictures of where to align the timing marks according to the marks on the guide. It can be done in around 2 hours if you are handy, and have the right tools.

I would compare gains to adding my race header.

Right now I am running:

Home made Intake with CRV tubing, small injen cone filter (Housing UNMODIFIED)

BCRH
BC Pro-Spec Exhaust
BC Racing Condenser
Hondata Reflash
Hondata IMG
Throttle Body Coolant By-pass.
Act Mod Street Disc (def FK'd Up, new exedy stage 1 on its way)
ACT Pro-lite flywheel
Ingells tq Damper

(everything else is still stock, though my garage isn't)

I think all the work you're doing is great, and I'm very appreciative that you share the progress with us, but I forsee you blowing your engine sooner, than later (but I hope not).

eh, as long as his AFRs are OK he should be fine.

Silverspoon you should grab a wideband O2 is you don't have one and see where you are. I have a feeling you should be pretty OK since you have the stock MAF housing...

I'm definitely in for more info.

This is something that I would like to do since I am going the N/A route. Sounds like the midrange power has been enhanced as well as when in VTEC. To be able to keep a modded Evo in sight is pretty good. I too am in for more info and dyno numbers if you get them. However, I won't attempt to do this. Think this is one job best left to the pros.

i guess for him to do all the swaping....i think he knows what to do..he dont need someone telling him to get a wideband since most who do this stuff knows that the need to monitor the AFR....my 02.

I have heard some shops getting $400-$500. The installer who I go to goes by the hour, not by the job. He is extremely fast and he is a pro. This is a mod I really would like to do. Fatten up the midrange and the top end. Nice.

I don't think we will see the full potention of this mod until some sort of tuning is available. But +1 to you for doing it!

I think he meant that hondata says you shouldn't rev over the factory rev limited with these cams. Meaning the higher redline with the reflash shouldn't be used with these cams. Thats just one reason that a fully tunable system would net better gains in a safer way.

Got it. Thanks. So, is the Hondata then incompatible with the TSX cams? If so, what a shame. Then a person would have to choose between the cams or the reflash until K-Pro comes along. Why is it we have such an uphill battle to modify our cars?

I thought that was for the K24 bottom end.

Also - It was just a suggestion to use the wideband. Perhaps he hadn't thought of it. I doubt he was offended. lol

Its just the way the industry is heading. The more stuff that the manufactures add, the more time it takes for aftermarket companies to develop parts that actually net gains.

hondata said that there is no problem swaping the TSX cam and the AFR will adjust easily since the MAF is pretty good on picking up the adjusment, but hondata also advise that as long as you keep it on the certain RPM he see no problem, that RPM is what hondata put the limiter to the tsx reflash. i think its 7600.

^ From the Hondata thread. he was referring to the K24 block, not cams.

Agreed it was the block not the cams.
