Here is the page from the Vibrant catalog:

check this out from Procivc.com http://www.procivic.com/pages-main_p...hausts.htmfrom what they state there CATS are EPA and OBD 2 certified will this work?l

if you have a Certified OBD2 CAT would you still get a CEL light on are cars just a bit confused because when i had a HFC on my DSM and it was a OBD2 car i never had a CEL light from it but i always used a Certied CAT that was OBD2 complabile

The link wouldn't connect for me, but personally, I'd trust Vibrant's word about their products, over Procivic's.

People are hit, or miss with CEL's from the Vibrant rh w/hfc. As I've stated numerous times, I got CEL's every 20 miles, untill I installed the Weapon r defouler. I've been CEL free for close to 5000 miles now.

I clicked on the link and it doesn't work, so I just pasted the url in. Procivic does not sell Vibrant RH w/hfc. They do sell DCSports and BuddyClub and CT Engineering. Remember, we were talking about the Vibrant RH w/hfc, which is OBD I compliant.

The cats they offer are from Magnaflow. I did see that the Magnaflow cat was labeled as OBD II compliant. What is strange is that they say that a defouler may be needed. They also said that it was not legal to use the cat in California.

What one could possibly do is to buy a straight header, then have the Magnaflow cat welded into the collector, much like the Vibrant header. You would also need to have O2 bungs welded in too, which can be purchased from Vibrant. This way, you might just be able to pass an emissions test, especially if a shield was placed over the header.

But my question is this if you do install i of these cats from pro civic will you still get a cel light? when it comes to smog i live in the east coast so smog isn't a issue for me but emissions is. So do you think that these cats will work?
Im buying headers for my si and im doing my H/W like crazy so i can avoid these cel light issue and i'm also a welder so i can mod the header if i want and install the cat myself in my garage and i also have acces to a lift if i want it. :)

I don't know what they do for emissions testing where you're at, but here they don't do a sniffer test, so as long as they don't read a CEL when they plug into your OBD2 port, you would be golden.

Take my car for example: There is no way I would have passed inspection as often as I threw CEL's, but after adding the Weapon R defouler, I will absolutely pass.

where am form thats what they do they plug into your OBD link, make sure there's no cel light and have a nice day no smog test thank god. So if youhave a OBD2 complablie CAT then you should be all set from what i understand

How could I possibly answer your question? Who knows if you will get a CEL or not. There are no hard guarantees. I have given you my opinion, that is all I can do.

I would say that if you get a straight header and then have that Magnaflow OBD II hfc welded in, you probably should pass an emissions' test. A lot depends as Matt said, on your state. Do they use a sniffer? Do they have a visual test? Do they just check for CEL's?

Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer. Everything here is speculative.

I'm in Canada can't seem to find an angled defouler easily.

Will this one do the job?
A&J Racing :: Intake & Exhaust :: T1R O2 Fix

I have the Vibrant with HFC and I throw a cel.

It will work, but it will hit the heat shield, which will cause rattling. If you have the Vibrant, you really should get an angled defouler. I posted several new places where you can buy them.

the defouler from T1R works fine. I've got the T1R testpipe, and defouler and it's perfect. CEL Free

Just wanted to let everyone know that my eBay angled defouler came today and it fit perfectly into my Vibrant RH w/HFC. Not that I expected anything different, but buyer feedback is probably important to people here on the forum.

Next Wednesday the 30th my header is being installed and dyno tested, so I'll post pics, feedback, reports of the CEL issue whether or not I get one, and the dyno charts and results. I'll post in here and create a custom thread for it as well. Thanks to Bill for his awesome information...

...and Bill, there's not a good DIY for the JDM red valve cover install for the U.S. Si. I'm thinking of doing and getting a full documented DIY together for when I install it. Mind if I borrow your "Mother" mantra? Those threads get tons of attention. Or, I could toss it your way and you create the post with my info...I'm down with that and you keep the Mother name in the family. LOL

BT, be my guest. Use whatever title you like. The "Mother" mantra seems to be a theme that implies ultimate or absolute. Go for it!
