solving defouler legal issues

just one suggestion to sponsors out there that has access to defoulers and worried about legal trouble.

don't sell them as cell eliminators. sell them as o2 sensor 'relocator'. if packaging states anything about 'tricking' or 'eliminating' then just repackage them in a zip lock bag or sumtin! hint hint to those who are thinking about building their own to sell.

this comes from years of being a smart drug dealer....lol/jk

Yes, it may come down to semantics. A defouler will have to be marketed as an "off road only" O2 relocator as you say. There will have to be caveats put out that it is for racing only, not for the street. That would help with compliance.

Using CEL eliminator or O2 sensor simulator will only bring on more troubles from the EPA. The EPA wants vendors to be sure that what they are selling is properly designated for racing purposes only, not for an emissions compliant car on the street.

Exactly. It could say to keep your o2 sensor wires away from the heatshield to avoid damage. Common sense that I think casper electronics didn't possess. Idk.

Call it whatever you like, technically it's still illegal. Even if you're not tossing a CEL, you're still sending more pollutants through your exhaust and have tampered with your emissions equipment according to the EPA. Whether or not that's enforced, up to the local jurisdiction, but technically your still illegal.

You're right, but that's not gonna matter to people.

exactly. if the product was clearly marked for off road use only, like the way race headers are labeled, there would be no issue whatsoever. its a conniving little loop hole, but one way or another power junkies get what power junkies want
