K&N SRi intake parts...and question

So i got a few questions, that have not been answered.

I'm getting a K&N Short Ram intake from a friend who just sold his Si and told me i could have it.

He said after removing it from his car he broke the bracket. Now would the best bet be calling K&N and see if they can send me a new one? Or think if i stopped by auto zone they might have it?

Also, This is the OLD K&N SRI not the new one. For some people who have it how do they like it? My buddy said that around 3K or 15-30mph you gun it there will be lag up the ass..or is that with every SRI since its exposed to the hot engine.

I've had no problems or issues with mine. At least you are starting off with zero from your pocket... if it isn't to your liking, you can go back to stock or go with something else. (the bracket would probably have to come from K&N or a custom fab)

yea, thats what i'm saying. Since its free, I'll just slap it on and see how i like it. I'm also hoping to get a header soon soooo i'd like to keep it ha.

How does it sound? sexy?
