This is fantastic. It is accessing the high pressure area at the lower front of the car. Either at the lower bumper area or the cowl area, the air is denser and has a ram effect. The one shown in the pictures looks quite ingenius. Is it yours btw?

I am linking this thread with a DIY that one of the 8th Gen members has done for a homemade Icebox. The issue now seems to be to find a housing that will accomodate a larger filter like that on the Apexi or K&N. Nevertheless, there are people that are striving to bring in colder, rammed air into the motor. Homemade Icebox Intake

It looks like that Simota filter system is exactly what we are looking for. They even have a listing for our car. They make one for thr 2.0 06+ civic. That's pretty much on the lines of what I was thinking of doing with the Ford air boxes. But with this we can keep the lower section of our stock box and just use their top section with our X intakes. I think we could incorporate the X maf into that system, if we would even need to. And I wonder how the quality is on that filter system. I think this would be our best bet. Nice find with this one. Can we get those in the US?
We could pipe the ram air setup like onefastsi did right to that setup and have positive pressure around the filter. That would be sweet. |

I found this on their site: It could be directly connected to the firewall or could be angled towards the front of the car.

I might go from the bottom, or lower and turn it upside down...then I just need a hose to connect to the factory plastic tube, removing the part that heads to the fender...and into the stock lower box that the "X intake" rests on now :) |

Nice. I like the tubing they have for ram air. The heat shield looks nice, but is made out of aluminum. Good find!
