Mustang vs. Dynojet
As the thread title states, I am interested in the differences between a Mustang and Dynojet dyno. From what I have gleaned, the Mustang seems to show lower results while the Dynojet comes off as being a little optimistic. I am curious if someone could explain the differences between the two.
Also, what is the exact meaning of "corrected" and "uncorrected"? Is this a term used in comparing the two dynos? Next, what effect does air temperature, air density and whether or not a fan is blowing air in the front of the car have on a dyno reading? Finally, I have noticed that some people go through all the gears while others take it easy in first and second and really get it on in third. Is there any benefit in testing these ways? Thanks for the info. I am a newb to this and may get my car dynoed.

First the 1:1 power to gear ratio is in 4th, you should dyno in 4th. and it really doesn't matter how you get to 4th just as long as you dont mash the throttle but rather easy into it when doing the dyno pull.

as for the differnce in dynos I am not an expert there, but what i can tell you is that more people trust the dynojet's readings as to a mustang dyno, more people dyno on a dynojet and post here, so for comparison sake use a dynojet dyno. Also use the same dyno for all your pulls, each dyno will be ever so slightly off to the next one.

supposedly, mustang dynos report a more realistic outcome of what your "to the wheels horsepower numbers" should be, hence the lower number when compared to dynojet numbers (i know there is more to it but this is all i know). But, imo, dynojets do very well in reporting whp numbers. when compared to reported base horsepower numbers (what dealerships and magazines report), dynojet figures are right on when considering the loss of power to the wheels. as was stated, dynojets seem to be the norm and regular when comparing 2wd vehicle power figures.

mustang dyno's are considered more accurate because they are load bearing. which means the rollers apply resistance againt the car to simulate the weight of the car being pulled like when driving... it far better for tuning as it actually puts a load against the car like if u were actually at the track or being driven... people saying numbers are accurate for either dyno it just here say.. but everyone likes higher numbers
