$1064 for new I/H/E!

Just wanted to know what ppl think about the combo at this price. It consists of an Ingen CAI, a DC Race Header, and a Skunk2 70mm catback. I just can't believe that there are ppl on here that said it would cost $2000 for something like this. Oh well. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the combo and bolt it on all at once, just to see how big of a difference I feel. Plan on ordering everything on the last days of Feb. or the first week or March at the most. I want to track my car a couple of times before I do though. What do you guys think? How good/bad of an idea is it at this price.

I got all of mine for less than 1000.00. Used parts are good. Well, just my Evo 2 is used

injen cai = 250, dc header = 335, exhaust = 400, so it's a little bit pricier... and imho i would never get a cai, just because of the greater percentage of hydrolocking your car. in no way will this combo ever cross 2000. maybe for buddyclub header, and a lsd exhaust/tanabe exhaust/ greddy exhaust you might wander across the 1500... but still not 2k.

i think getting an aftermarket exhaust is pointless because the skunk2 70mm was dyno proven to give 5 whp.... so ppl spend 450-500 dollars for 5 whp?? 100 bucks per hp.. sounds like a total waste of money to me. the stock exhaust works fine.

I forgot about the BCRH...maybe that's why ppl exaggerated on the price

um... yeah... about that.

comptech gives you about 50 whp, at close to 4 grand for the kit... so lets see.. 4000/50 = 80... and the skunk2 costs 450 bucks. so 400~450/5 = 90. it's right around the same price..... if you want hp, it's gonna cost you unless you buy another car with higher hp.

It's $450 from corsport. I justify spending that amount of money on an exhaust because it also adds to the car's appearance...at least to me it does

adding a big coffee can on the back of your car adds to the appearance... wow... what you should do is get the piping that the skunk2 70mm has all the way up to the axle back then throw on the hfp axle back or the stock si axle back.. i prefer sleeper look.. but to each his own i guess.

I don't know about the whole "coffee can" thing. While it is larger than the Si exhaust, it isn't HUGE. It works well w/ the car. I just can't stand the way the Si exhaust looks. A small pipe w/ a larger oval tip around it doesn't really look to good now does it...

i think it looks fine especially with the hfp rear lip. it fits in the exhaust cut off on the lip perfectly.

depends what batch it was. the only ones that had issues were the 1st batch. everything after that should be fine. i dont know how to determine which batch it came from, though.

problems with the dcrh are fixed, however now they're owned by someone else. Try to find one from a vendor that still has them in stock.

Sounds like a good setup for power.

Hearing however is priceless, lol.

Does the Skunk2 'pass' the acceptable decibel law when it comes to its loudness? Doesnt' the law say that your exhaust can't be louder than 60-65 decibels?

I don't know what the law is in your state however, no matter where you are, the skunk2 can't possibly pass.

It does, but once you drive your car about 5k mi w/ a header installed you'll notice that the stock muffler isn't up to the task when you have the cat removed. When you expose the stock muffler to the extra exhaust gas heat in the absence of the cat it speeds up the deterioration of the muffler internal baffling.

My stock exhaust went from a subdued growl/roar after the header install to a frigging fart can rasping POS right around 4k rpm... Good at other rpms, but right at 4k it turns raspy/fartcan-ish.

I absolutely hate the stock muffler on my car now. I'm going to wind up buying a Tanabe Touring Medalion exhaust in the very near future because of this issue. The Tanabe will retain alot of the OEM look (especially when I paint the canister matte black) and sound, but will be constructed to take the extra heat abuse.

I would definatly say no, the Skunk2 does not pass the acceptable decibel law. But then again, it all depends on your state. I know for a fact that Skunk2 won't pass VA state laws.
