i just got my IMG put on today and everything seems fine. but i have a question. i was looking at qshooter's DIY IMG install and he says that you have to relocate the ground wire. but i didnt relocate it and put it back where it was before. bad idea?

the reason to relocate the ground is because the IMG is now blocking the intake manifold from directly touching the block so it is no longer a good ground. the only reason why it might not cause a problem is because the bolts holding the intake manifold to the block are still keeping it grounded. just to be safe, i would move the ground. last thing you want is your car to stall when driving for a small thing such as that.

no you dont need to B/c the engine has like 6 bolts making that ground. Nighthawk there is also a stock gasket on the intake manifold that would do the same thing, which is preventing the manifold and block from touching(metal to metal).

The stock gasket is metal. It will not insulate electricity like the plastic Hondata type gasket. You should move the ground like the instructions say to. You will get a much better ground that way. And we all know that more efficient grounds mean a more efficient charging system and electrical components function better.

Put it on the front drivers side valve cover bolt. If your looking at it from the front it's the closest one on the right side of the valve cover.

yea i know that but how do you extend that little short ground wire all the way up there?

oh and also...people say that when you put the bolt on to tighten up the manifold, you must use a torque wrench. i didnt use a torque wrench. a friend of mine is a mechanic at honda/acura and he says that all i need to do is just tighten it up to where the manifold wont move around. so i put back all the bolts on and the manifold doesnt move...would i be ok or should i find me a torque wrench?

ok, your img is plastic. the stock gasket is metal. with the stock gasket, your intake manifold is grounded well with the head. to keep the ground wire out of sight stock, honda kept the wire under the intake manifold cover. well, you go and install the new img, which adds a plastic gap between the head and the intake manifold. not as much contact between the intake manifold and the head except for the studs, so therefor, your ground is not grounded well cause the intake manifold is no longer a good ground. so you move the ground directly to the head for a good ground. the ground is to ground the static electricity the gas makes while flowing through the lines, so i advise you to move it asap to lower the risk of starting a fire, which is bad. i'm not joking either, i am in the air force and i'm a C130 jet engine mechanic and we gotta have a ground on all fuel lines because of static electricity the fuel makes when it travels through the lines. and that is exactly what your doin with this ground wire and why you are doing it... hope this helps...

ohhh...i see. well that wouldnt be good then. so to relocate the ground wire all i need to do is just tug on the wire right? and it'll come out? and also should i go get a torque wrench and tighten the IM bolts because i didnt use a torque wrench for that.

for the ground wire, try to pry the plastic container thing it lays in apart a little bit to pull some the out, enough to reach the new ground location... the torque wrench ordeal, that is your best bet, but to be honest with you and if you dont have one, just snug the nuts or bolts up and then give them a 1/4 to a 1/2 of a turn or so. also, juss check them often for secureness after the install...
