Comptech Catback or Vibrant Catback

Hi guys,

I'm looking into buying either a Comptech Catback or a Vibrant catback for my 07 Civic Si (FG2). Is there anyone out there that has had both or that has one and can give me a little advice. Also in terms of pricing the vibrant is significantly cheaper than the comptech, why is this?. I also plan on getting a matching header eventually so thats figuring into my decision as well. Please let me know what you guys think and where i can get either of them the cheapest. I live out in San Jose, CA and would love to be able to just go buy one in a shop but i havent found any places that carrys either, but ordering online is alright as well. Thanks.

Well i currently have the vibrant catback and i must say for the quality and price it is worth the buck. And from a few other sources and friends on the forum the vibrant header matches up with it as well. I also have a friend that has comptech catback and he likes it but he has it matched up with a bcrh which he has no complaints about as well from what i know. Now keep in mind a comptech header is a shorty header so u would either have to match it up with a test pipe or a rt highflow cat. I support comptech as well. All and all you either pay close to 450 for a vibrant or close to 700 for a comptech. They do say you have to pay to play but either way in this situation you will not be disappointed.

I have the vibrant cat-back, got it installed at Corsport with the RH and they said it matched up very well. I love the sound of the vibrant personally - it turns heads without droning much more than stock on the highway. I highly recommend the system personally

Is the vibrant catback louder or quieter than stock? I have heard the comptech is a bit louder than stock but havent heard much about the vibrants sound. I want something thats is a little louder than stock but not too obtrusive. I dont want my car to sound ricey but i think the stock exhaust is a little too quiet.

The vibrant is a great deal louder than stock - esp matched with a RH. One thing I think is a slight bit of a misconception is saying that aftermarket exhausts are quiet at low RPMs which in fact imo is farthest from the truth. The exhaust loudness has more to deal with how hard your pushing on the throttle, not really how low your RPMs are. If your looking to turn heads you most certainly will with a vibrant setup but once you learn to drive with it you can keep pretty quiet when you want/need to and then open it up when you wanna have some fun. My vibrant RH/cat-back sounds pure sex in VTEC at WOT!

its louder than stock exhaust. but not too loud. has a nice rumble. Coupled w/ a header it can get a bit loud... but any header on any exhaust will do that. I heard an Si a couple weeks ago w/ the Vibrant Header (with highflow cat) and Exhaust combo... it sounded awesome.... and im terribly picky about how exhausts sound.

Actually I've noticed that most of the deep rumble associated with straight through exhausts (Vibrant in my case) is the result of the low fequency exhaust pulses being amplified by the spare wheel well & the trunk. Drop the rear seats & you'll see(hear) what I mean. If you take a look under the spare wheel well, you'll see that there isn't a whole lot of insulation in there.

I've found that by lining the well and perhaps a bit of the rear quarter panel with Dynamat, Fatmat etc. cuts down on the drone/boom noticeably.

With a race header and the vibrant catback, does it get RASPY above 4K RPM?

I have a DCRH, and looking for a catback that has the smallest chance of getting raspy above 4K RPM.

Thanks

I haven't heard the Vibrant in person, but this clip has what I can imagine would be a representative sound. Make sure to listen to it with proper speakers or headphones so you can hear the bass.

YouTube - 2007 Civic Si Rev/Take Off

The car has the catback with the DCRH.
