Mugen airbox UPDATE

UPDATE: Mugen Air Box for 2006+ Civic Si
We have completed initial test fitting of the Mugen airbox on the 06+ Civic Si. We have found while the airbox physically fits the USDM Si perfectly, the ID of the USDM intake hoses are slightly too small to fit the Mugen airbox. We are working with Samco to produce a correctly sized intake tube that will also have a provision for the USDM mass air flow sensor. More updates to follow.

Found this on kingmotorsport's website. Good news for anyone waiting for this intake. Start emailing samco to speed things up. Either way, it looks like it will be coming out sometime.

ummmm, so if you want it just order it.

Either cut out your maf housing and get an intake tube from any performance shop and connect it together. Or, but an X modified MAF section and the intake tube. They say it fits, so it should be easy as hell to get your maf housing connected.

done.

someone hurry up and buy the damn thing already!

thought about doing that, but i think it would look tacky and/or hacked up. nice way to compliment the mugen intake... lol (IMO).

id rather have one tube (depending on what they do) in black that connects from the TB to the air box that houses the MAF sensor and looks integrated with quality.

i COULD purchase the x intake maf housing and just piece everything together....but im in NO hurry. just kinda curious to see what King/SAMCO come up with.

Since X uses the CR-V tube, then maybe thats all this baby needs.

Negative.... you still have to address the issue of the MAF... JDM Type = MAP... CRV = MAP... if you use the X MAF section, you would still be putting a smaller diameter pipe between the throttle body and airbox (thus limiting some of the flow).

If you are looking to use the X style intake and still want cold air... I would look to PRM Racing for one of their air filters....

^^^^

and thats what kingmotorsports/SAMCO are trying to resolve. since the Si tube from the TB to airbox opening is too small in diameter.... not to mention the lack of a MAF housing on the tubing.

SAMCO usually has good stuff, so im interested to see what they come up with. hopefully its just one long tube that connects from the TB to airbox and includes MAF sensor area.

This will probably bump up the price on top of the 715....

Figure another $100 for the Samco hose... I have seen some really nice silicone hoses for intakes... the first of which were the ones from PRM... :) I hope to try out my PRM idea this spring... I have a PRM filter from my Cobb Tuning intake from my Subaru, so it won't cost me anything.... :)
