Do you have the actual bolts though? Can you find a pic online of them or draw one in paint? I need to see what they look like because my custom header was made and it's similar to comptech header, but I bought a test-pipe and the 2 hole sizes are different (header compared to test pipe) And those 2 bolts didn't come with it.

FYI Comptech is now CT-Engineering, sort of. Comptech was bought buy a race engine building company in Dever for the name so now, Comptech is only building race engines, CT-Engineering is doing the bolt on, supercharger stuff.
I have their header too.

Hey guys, I actually just installed this CT Engineering Header with the Random Technology hi flow cat and Skunk2 70mm catback. I wish I had pics but it was a long day and my cousin and I were annoyed enough with all the installations lol!
-First off, the stock header is a pain to unbolt, hard to get in there, def. take out the under cowl panel as stated in the instructions! If you have access to a gun (luckily my cousin owns a tire shop) by all means use that to unbolt the stck header cause it took both of us with all of our might to loosen some of these bolts (and trust me my cousin is strong). You also may want to use the air gun to SLIGHTLY tighten the bolts on the CT header to get you started, but DONT overtighten as these bolts are not strong enough to handle the gun's power....just to give you an easier time since they are so heard to feel and reach so you dont have to spin a rachet/wrench for an hour! -The downpipe is replaced by the cat so the cat bolts directly onto the header -I did run into a problem at the end, however, I was able to improvise! CT did not send me any bolts or anything, just the headers, which I'm almost positive is the only thing i SHOULD'VE got. The problem here was that the stock SPRING bolts that connect the RT cat and the CT header are too small for the holes provided on the headers (they slip right through)! What I did to fix this problem was put a nut and washer at the end of each bolt and tightened the spring bolts (for any noobs be sure to hold a wrench/rachet on each nut as you tighten the spring bolts so you're actually tightening and not just spinning both ends)! It seemed to be just fine and very tight fitting just like stock! My only question is could this be a permanent solution, or is it unsafe? PS- Feel free to ask me any questions about install of any of these parts or the difference in loudness/speed etc. Last edited by tookwick4ya; 05-05-2008 at 02:04 AM. |

hey to answer everyone's questions....i definitely felt HP gains, if i had to guess, IMO i'd say at least 15 HP gain with this setup....i LOVE it....i will say it's very loud so if you cant bear that get a diff. catback....the backfire and the lovely noises coming from the cat out the exhaust is awesome sounds something like an SRT-4 just not as extreme! vtec feels and sounds great- faster, bigger boost! to be quite honest with you, i barely use vtec now when im driving around cause by the time i get there im going so fast already lol i used to hit vtec to get those nice fun speeds and acceleration, i dont even need to anymore :) Great way to mod and not void any warranty, just kinda costly thats all! but well worth it! :)

Theres no way you gained 15HP with those mods. Not to be a sour apple, but I had the RT Cat but swapped it out for a BCRH and test pipe and DC cat-back. Im not exactly sure how much I gained but 15 HP is a bit high of a claim for a shorty/HFC/Exhaust combo

Remember that with my combination, I'm as close as you can get to a race header+test pipe, I just get to pass emissions. Not to mention my cat back is bigger (by .25 inches, yes not an extreme difference but a difference nonetheless)
"On the 06+ Civic Si, this Random Technology catalytic converter gives 12 hp and 11 lb-ft of torque at the wheels without any other modifications!" Honda Civic Random Technology High-Flow Catalytic Converter at PRO Civic.com With that said, I'd say even with a bit less than they claim on the cat, its gotta be about 15 HP in total give or take a few. But like I said it's a guess. I'd love to see a dyno on that though! Last edited by tookwick4ya; 05-07-2008 at 01:36 PM. |
